“I’m glad to hear it. Were those our cows?”

Luke explained that he’d found six. “The rustlers replaced the ear tags, but between the branding iron and our papers, we should be able to prove they are ours.”

Luke set the branding iron bag next to the door.

“That’s great news.” Ryan smiled and then stepped closer to Malia. “You want to celebrate?”

“Only if Luke joins us.”

“Fuck me,” Luke said.

She placed a finger on Ryan’s lips to keep him from commenting and then went over to Luke. “That’s exactly what I was suggesting.”

When his eyes turned a deep shade of gold and the hair on his jawline and cheeks thickened, Malia figured it was only a matter of time before he gave in.

When he didn’t say anything, she took off her coat and hat and placed them on the nearby entry table.

“What are you doing?” Luke asked.

“What does it look like I’m doing? Unless you walk out that door right now, I believe you’ll be engaging in some mind-numbing sex in a few minutes.

“About time!” Ryan shouted.

Two shoes dropped behind her. She would bet her car that in about thirty seconds, one of the Lattimore brothers would be naked. And that brother would be Ryan.

The big question was whether Luke would follow suit. His hands were clenched, and he wouldn’t look at her. What did that tell her?

“Are you going to let your brother have all the fun? Again?”

Luke stepped up to her. “Why are you doing this?”

“Doingthis? What does that even mean?” Okay, she could guess.

“You’re trying to distract me.”

That tired refrain again? “Live a little.”

Malia had enough of his crappy attitude. At some point, his inner wolf wouldn’t be able to resist her a second time. That wasn’t her ego talking, but rather the facts of life. A werewolf near his mate had little control. The fact she was asking him to make love to her, and Luke was still standing there, implied his resolve was exceptional.

Well, she wasn’t a Granger for nothing. Grangers didn’t quit.

Malia untied and removed her shoes.

“What are you doing?” Luke asked again.

Hadn’t she just told him? “What does it look like?”

“You are not getting naked in the living room.”

She turned around. Sure enough, Ryan was there in all of his glory. Malia faced Luke again. “Why not? Ryan is.”

CHAPTERSIXTEEN

“Fine. If that’s what you want,” Luke said.

He couldn’t believe he was about to do exactly what Malia wanted him to do, but damn it if he was going to stand around and listen to his brother and their mate make love.

Luke still hadn’t forgiven himself for walking out on them last night, but at that point, no one had any idea where any of the cows were. Luke rationalized that since half of them had been found, he could relax a little.
