Luke placed the fish on the table, along with a bowl of green beans in a mushroom sauce that looked divine.
“What did he learn?”
She told them about Les and Don Bradley being humans. “That doesn’t eliminate them, but it could.”
“I agree.”
“I asked Mason to see if he can locate Pete Rizolli.”
“Good.”
Ryan placed a glass of wine on the table for her. He, too, had a glass. Luke had his usual beer.
“My mom had a thought.”
“You spoke with her?”
“She is my mother, you know.”
Luke nodded. “What did she say?”
“This is a stretch, but could one of the ranchers your dad sold the property to want more land? He could have stolen your cattle in order to drive the ranch into bankruptcy.”
“Which would allow him to buy the place for pennies on the dollar.” Luke looked over at Ryan. “Ryan has met the rancher to our north, but to be honest, I was too busy to meet with any of the others. It’s kind of embarrassing to know they won what had been ours in a poker game.”
That would be tough. “Do you know if any of the ranchers are shifters?”
“Ed Filmore to the north is human, but we’d have to ask around to see if any of the other ranchers are werewolves. I bet Pete would know.”
“Let’s hope Mason can find him.”
“Yes,” Luke said. He nodded to the food. “Dig in.”

“You getting enough sleep?” David asked Malia. His damn smirk implied he could guess the cause.
“I suppose I could use a few more hours. I don’t suppose you’re going to suggest I go home and rest.”
Her boss—and cousin—shrugged. “It depends on whether you would head straight to Luke’s and Ryan’s arms or would you actually go home.”
After last night’s dinner and the amazing aftermath, she supposed she might consider visiting the men, mostly to talk about how to find their cows.
Who was she kidding? She was so hooked on both of them that she wanted to spend her free time with them. “A little of both?”
David chuckled. “When do you get off work?”
She checked her watch. “In an hour.”
“I imagine you can last, but you should consider sleeping in your own bed tonight. Doctor’s orders.”
“Maybe I will.”
Someone called for David’s help in one of the sick bays. “Rest.”
Malia saluted him. No sooner had she finished checking up on a few of her patients when her call rang. It was Mason.
“Hey.” After making certain no one needed her assistance, Malia headed back into the breakroom.
