He smiled smugly. “I like to build the suspense. In due time, you’ll get the full show."

CHAPTERSIXTEEN

Blair's bodyquivered at the thought of seeing all of Zane Haygood. His tantalizing strength and tenderness were alluring, and she yearned to experience it—sooner rather than later.

Making love to both men at the same time had been her plan, but she feared that their combined size and strength would be too much for her right now.

In spite of his gentleness, Zane was definitely a man in command in ways she hadn't imagined. "What are you waiting for? Turn off the lights," she said, teasingly.

“You distracted me,” he shot back, clearly enjoying the banter.

In an instant, the room went from bright to twilight. Her sharp night vision was a blessing that seemed especially suited for this situation.

"Do you need help taking off your shirt?" he asked with a hint of concern in his voice. “You do have an injured wrist.”

She could easily undress herself, but Blair wanted his strong hands on her. "I'd like that," she murmured.

Zane placed one knee on the bed and moved close. His scent, woodsy and masculine, wrapped around her. As he removed her top and then unhooked her bra, her nipples hardened. Ever so slowly, he lowered the straps. It was as if he was waiting to see if she’d object to moving ahead.

“I’m on the pill, if that’s why you’re hesitating.”

“Good to know, but I wasn’t hesitating. I was memorizing every inch of you. I don’t want to rush and miss anything.”

No man had ever said anything more romantic. Blair was definitely smitten and prayed he wasn’t just tossing out words that held no meaning.

When he lowered the bra, cool air peaked her nipples even more, and she yearned for his mouth and tongue all over them. The way he caressed them would tell her a lot about the man’s true intentions.

Even though her eyes had adjusted to the scant light in the room, which came from the streetlights outside, it wasn’t enough. Blair wanted to see every plane and contour of his face and body.

Before she could request he take off his clothes or turn on the lights, Zane ran his thumbs back and forth over her sensitive peaks, generating tingles that were nearly unbearable. The man was truly a gentle giant.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?” Zane’s voice came out a whisper, almost as if he meant to think it instead of saying the words out loud.

“You’re looking pretty handsome yourself.” Blair wasn’t usually chatty at a time like this, but with Zane, it was easy. “But I have a problem.”

Zane stopped. “What’s that?”

“I’m half naked, and you’re not.”

She must be more tired than she thought, because Blair swore his eyes flashed yellow. The light, what there was of it, must be playing tricks on her.

“I can take care of that. In the future, I’d like your delicate fingers on my body, but with you only having one good hand, I won’t ask that of you.” Zane winked.

A wild grin then stretched across his face, and Blair's heart raced as he tugged off his T-shirt. One minute it was on, and the next, it lay crumpled on the floor beside him. Her mouth went dry as she took in his sculpted chest and defined abs. The man was even more perfect than she had imagined. Clothes didn’t do him justice.

The sudden urge to touch him overwhelmed her as blood rushed to her ears. What was happening to her? All she knew for certain was that something inside of her wanted this man desperately, and Blair didn't even care what happened next.

But she too, didn’t want to rush. Their first time had to be one of exploration. “I think I was premature in agreeing to turning off the lights," she said, unable to take her eyes off of him.

He laughed, the sound rolling over her skin like electricity. Zane slipped off the bed and stepped into the bathroom. He clicked on the light before closing the door most of the way. The soft yellow glow illuminated just enough of him for her to make out his features—his strong jawline that begged to be licked, his full lips that yearned to be kissed and…

"Is this enough?" he asked softly as he crawled back onto the bed.

She shivered as his voice sent reverberations through every inch of her. "It's perfect," Blair said. "Please return to what you were doing. I need to make sure you're real and not a figment of my imagination.”

His deep laugh filled the room again. A second later, he reached out and brushed a stray hair away from her face, before whispering into her ear: "I can assure you that I'm all man—or should I say: part of me is a feral beast waiting to make love with you."

Words caught in Blair’s throat. No man had ever said anything like that to her, and boy, did that turn her on. “I want that, but first, I need to see if you are worthy.”
