I see him fight a smirk. “Kayla’s an old friend.”

“In other words, you’ve slept with her.” I groan, rolling my eyes and snatching my hand from his. “Jesus, Arch, is there anyone you haven’t slept with?”

“Many women, actually. I can be quite picky,” he offers.

“Well, thank small mercies for that.”

I try to fight him when he pulls me into his arms, circling them around my waist, and he looks down at me with those knowing dark eyes. “There’s no need to be jealous, Scar. It was just sex, nothing more.”

I arch a brow in response, snickering. “And does she know that, heartbreaker?”

He scoffs at me, smiling. “I could always put that ring on your finger to make sure she gets the message.”

I shove him playfully in the chest. “Not funny.”

“Who says I’m joking,” he says as he releases me and leaves me standing staring after him.

“Fuck!” I exclaim, clenching my fists. I’m a weak-arsed idiot. Why can’t I just stay away? Having sex with him earlier was a stupid move. I need to make him work for it, to make him pay for how he deceived me and planned to use me for revenge. I straighten my spine and hold my head up high. No more pushover Eliza!

I hear him shout my name and, with my new resolve firmly in place; I walk into the main room. My steps falter when I see Kayla. Holy hell, she is gorgeous. Like Hollywood beautiful. She’s about five-seven, with long willowy legs that go on forever without a stretch mark in sight. Her hair is black, long and shiny. She has one of those heart shaped faces with a perfect ski-slope nose and high cheekbones with glowing olive skin tone. She has to be a model. My insecurities rush to the surface. I know I’m slim, but my body is marked with scars, and I have some cellulite at the top of my legs. Not much, but I know it’s there. At least she has tiny boobs. Archer likes tits and I know he loves mine. I watch the two of them talking away like old friends and he smiles at her in a way that makes my blood boil.

“You must be Kayla,” I say, walking into the room with a confident smile plastered on my face.

“Hi, yes, that’s me and you must be Eliza? Wow, I love your hair!” Her smile is warm and friendly, and it throws me off as she seems genuine. I don’t know why, but I expected her to be a complete bitch who is up her own arse.

“Thanks. So, you’re a dancer?”

“Was,” she says with a nod. “I got signed up by a modelling agency a year back.” She nudges Archer playfully. “This one put in a good word for me, and the rest is history.”

Archer grins, shaking his head. “That was all you Kayla. Kayla recently did a shoot for Versace.”

“Wow,” I reply, smiling. My self-esteem just died a little more.

“And it was hot!” Seb whistles as he walks into the room and wraps an arm around Kayla’s neck, dropping a kiss on her head. “I bet the sales of their lingerie went through the roof.”

An underwear shoot, even better!

“Kayla!” Vee greets her warmly when she walks into the room. She’s showered and changed into a cute little playsuit. The two girls hug each other like old friends. “Oh, you smell divine.”

“It’s the new Chanel fragrance,” Kayla informs her.

Of course, it is.

I feel Archer’s eyes on me and when I meet his, he’s watching me with a smirk on his face. He walks over to me and slips an arm around my waist and guides me closer to where the girls stand. “Scarlet is helping us with a job tonight. I need you to make her look like the best lap dancer there is so that our target chooses her for a private dance.” Archer kisses the top of my head and I see Kayla’s look of surprise.

“Okay, now I need the gossip. Have you finally caught feelings for someone, Archer?” She waggles her finger between the two of us and grins in excitement.

I step slightly away from him and shake my head. “We’re just friends,” I insist, and I glare over at Seb when he snickers and murmurs ‘bullshit’ under his breath.

“Well,” Kayla smiles at me, “any friend of Archers is a friend of mine. Shall we make a start? I was thinking over by the windows is enough space for us to practice.”

Nodding my head, I follow her over to the floor to ceiling windows and I watch her as she puts down her bag and pulls out her phone. “I’ll give you a demo of the routine I want you to master.” She looks over at the boys. “Seb, do you want to be my assistant?”

Seb’s eyes light up like all his Christmases have come at once. “Hell, yes!” He swings over the sofa and jogs over to where we are, picking up a dining chair as he passes. He places the chair down and sits himself on it. Winking at me, he leans back and cups the back of his head with his hands.

I chuckle at his eagerness and share a smile with Kayla. Okay, I admit it, the girl, despite being annoyingly perfect, is nice as well. Kayla fiddles with her phone and sultry music with a hypnotic beat plays out into the room. We all watch her enraptured and even I can’t deny that Kayla can dance and it’s hot! I fight a laugh when I turn to see Vee, whose eyes are practically popping out of her head. Rafe wraps an arm around her waist from behind her and he whispers something in her ear that has her grinning wider. I don’t even want to know. Those two and their open relationship agreement is something I still can’t wrap my head around.

“Think you can master that in the next two hours?” she asks me when she finishes her routine.
