Page 54 of Rise & Fall

Iamincompleteawe. And I’ve seen some pretty cool things in my life. I’ve seen a rocket take off at the Nasa base. I’ve been to Disney World and rode on some of the coolest rides of my little childhood life. I’ve been to some cool car shows; my dad was an old car fanatic. I’ve also been to the Titanic museum. In reality, none of that stuff may seem cool to some people, but I thought that those adventures were the highlight of my life. That is until now.

I grew up dreaming of hot air balloons. They take you away without really taking you away. It’s like an escape but when you land, you’re still home. I don’t know why they fascinated me so much, but it’s always been a dream of mine.

Who would have thought that showing up to a school drop-off would bring us here?

But as I look out at the rooftops of houses in the distance, beyond the trees and the sun dropping behind them, I feel him behind me. He grips my hip with one of his hands, the other is shuffling for something in his pocket.

I know of one way to make it better.

His whisper is something of a promise, almost brazen as he kisses the exposed skin of my shoulder.

I can practically feel the beating of his heart in his chest as he leans into the back of me, my fingers gripping a little tighter on the edge, not because I’m scared but becauseI’mon edge.

Finally, his other hand retrieves what he was looking for, pulling the black silk tie from earlier out of his pocket. I see it in his hands, his fingers rubbing against the fabric, as I peer at him over my shoulder.

I get chills immediately.

He peels off my jean jacket, helping me slowly remove it one armhole at a time. When it’s gone, he tosses it on the floor of the basket and though the wind finally has access to my bare skin where my dress doesn’t cover, the heat from how close he is warms me.

He turns me around so that I’m facing him, and his dark brown eyes look almost black as the sunlight is nearly gone. Everything about this man is alluring. They way he spoke to me the whole drive here, how he made sure I was comfortable before we continued. His words are reassuring but his actions are even more of a promise that what he’s after isn’t a casual thing. He’s pulling out the big guns. And I don’t know, maybe this is how grand he likes his gestures in casual relationships. But it’s impressive to me and the adrenaline is what really has me wanting more.

“What’s that for?” I lift a hand and meet him where he rubs the fabric between his fingers, wanting to share the same feeling of the blindfold between my fingers.

“I thought it could be of use for what I want to do to you.” His smirk is almost half as dangerous as his words. And I can’t help but feel all of the tingles from my cheeks down to the base of my spine as he says them.

I step into him a little further, loving the way he anticipates my embrace. But I just reach over and snake the tie out of his fingers and turn around, holding in position for him to tie it into place.

“I thought you didn’t trust me,” he says as he closes the space between us and takes the blindfold from my hold.

“Just a little trust,” I repeat his words from earlier, feeling the cool fabric gently layer across my eyes as he works the bind in place.

“Good, you’re gonna need it.” His voice travels down my spine in a fit of electricity, sending waves of desire swirling between my thighs.

Suddenly, it’s black. My eyesight is no longer a sense I can control.

“What’s the point of this anyways?” I ask, realizing I’ve now been blindfolded twice in one night and that’s more than I can say for the rest of my well-lived life.

“When you take away your eyesight, your other senses kick into overdrive.” Nolan takes this moment to take the tip of his finger and drags it up my arm from my wrist to my shoulder. He does this slowly, and with intent. I can feel every tingle that he leaves in his path mixed with the slight burn of the chilled air that tangles with his touches.

“All of your other senses are heightened.” He leans into my neck—fingers now sliding down my arm—and he breathes deep right under my ear. The warmth of his breath is electrifying, and it adds to the feeling of him touching me.

“Do you feel that?” he asks, and I merely nod.

I can’t see anything; all I candois feel. So it may seem like a silly question but I know what he means. And I do, I feel it.

I feel the moment he takes his other hand and squeezes my hip before slowly dragging my dress upward, his fingertips grazing the skin on my thigh.

I feel the air all at once as it swipes through my thighs, it’s cold and harsh all the way up here, I can hear the way it whistles through the tops of the trees. I almost forget we’re still on the balloon though.

He bunches the hem of my dress at my hip, I can’t see what he’s looking at or what he’s doing, and it turns me on. So much more that my sense of sight is shut off from the world. He was right, everything is working in overdrive.

Nolan drops my dress and flips me around. “Talk to me,” he says as he gently pushes me backward so that I’m leaning on the edge of the basket and I gasp, needing balance and feeling as though I might actually fall.

“I’ve got you.” He reaches out and steadies me. My hands reach up needing to hold onto him and he guides my hands to his waist.

“I’m putting a lot of trust in you right now, old man.” I smile, hoping that he’s looking at my face. But with the way my skin is pebbling all over, I’m sure he’s looking everywhere but.

And I’m wet, so wet. I feel the need to clench my thighs but I don’t want him to see how turned on I am. It’s the only control I have over myself right now, and I’m even losing control of that.
