There might also have been a tiny need to shock our guests, who came to celebrate me becoming Pack Ashe’s omega.
I wasn’t the only one to shock someone.
The Omega Institute sent a secretary to the house to find out when we’d all be signing the register to make things official. Rune slammed the door in the woman’s face.
We’re together. We choose to be together. And we’re having this party to celebrate it. And also to celebrate something else. After I voiced my fear that being on suppressants for three years had done permanent damage to me, Cian had asked me if I wanted to see one of the best specialist omega doctors in the country.
I did.
To my surprise, other than the fact that suppressants will never work for me the way they do for other omegas, all my tests came back normal.
Maybe one day I’ll have a baby. Maybe I won’t. Regardless of what happens in the future, I think I’ll be okay with it, and so will my alphas.
None of us wanted to sign a register that feels like a way for an alpha to own an omega.
So we didn’t.
No one from the Institute has been back to press the issue, and if they do, I don’t doubt they’ll get a door slammed in their face. They might not survive it if Kylian is the one who answers the door.
“You’re killing me with this dress,” Kylian breathes into my ear before gently kissing the bite on my neck he gave me days before. “You know that, right?”
I smile as he dances us across the ballroom. It was impossible to miss the envy on the unmated omegas’ faces as Rune pressed a kiss on the claiming bite he gave me and passed me to Kylian for this dance. Now Rune is talking with Cian, and I’ll dance with Cian next.
“Are you even wearing anything under this?” he whispers into my ear.
My smile widens, but I don’t say a word.
He softly curses.
This dress is thin, and I can feel exactly what this new information is doing to him. Maybe that’s what convinces me to do the thing I’ve wanted to do for days now.
I lean closer toward him, press my mouth to his ear, and whisper, “Good boy.”
His hand spasms on my back and his cock jolts against my belly. “Fuck, Everleigh. Not now.”
“Why not? You’ve been so good. Or did I not say it right?” I inject more primness into my voice. “Good boy. Better?”
He stops dancing and starts dragging me toward the exit. Cian and Rune are shaking their heads at Kylian’s display.
Laughing, I don’t fight him. “Kylian.Stop.We can’t do that here.”
“You’re supposed to tell me in bed,” he says, though he stops veering toward the exit.
We’re standing still in the middle of the dance floor as I lift my fingers to graze his jaw. “You do such a good job of looking after me. Why shouldn’t I say it here?”
He captures my fingers, kissing the tips before we resume dancing.
Another wistful omega sighs. “I wish that were me.”
I peer over my shoulder to grin at her. “Sorry, he’s mine. Can’t have him.”
Kylian whirls me back into the center of the dance floor, growling. “Possessive. Hmm, I think I like this side of you.”
I grin at him, happy. “I think we should skip the dancing. Head out into the gardens instead. I might have a fantasy I wouldn’t mind living out tonight.”
He stumbles before almost immediately correcting himself. “You’re determined to shatter my mind, aren’t you?”
“If I wanted to do that,” I say as he dances us back toward Cian and Rune, “then I’d tell you I’m not wearing—”
