Maddox smirks, looking satisfied with my answer. “I have a few ideas in mind.”
“Oh really?” I arch an eyebrow, intrigued and slightly apprehensive. “And what ideas might those be?”
The darkness in his eyes sends shivers down my spine.
“Explain again how you found him cheating on you?”
I grind my teeth. “I’d rather not.”
“A girl was fucking his ass with a strap-on, right?”
I nod, wondering what he could be getting at.
“We get a video of him begging me to fuck him while I dangle my dick in his face. It'll be enough to keep him quiet, believe me.”
I swallow hard, as I don’t want him here after tonight. Christmas Day should be the two of us. “We do it now then and send him packing before tomorrow. How did he get up here if the road is snowed in?”
Maddox chuckles. “I lied, angel about being snowed in. I wasn’t about to let you go.”
I glare at him. “That’s not cool.”
Maddox’s smirk deepens, his dark eyes glittering like the dangerous ocean at night. “Why so angry, angel?” he teases. “You’re not planning on leaving me, are you?” It’s a challenge, a dare.
I know the unspoken rules of our twisted game. I have to remain here with him. There’s no escaping Maddox or the darkness I’ve willingly stepped into. But that can't be the case forever. I do have a life back in New York I need to return to.
“No,” I respond, my voice trembling even as I try to keep it steady. The thought of leaving Maddox is unbearable.
His arm snakes around my waist, pulling me closer. The hardness between his legs presses deeper into me, reminding me of the addiction that I’ve become enslaved to.
“I’m glad to hear that,” he murmurs.
I never want to leave. I want to stay wrapped up in this crazy fantasy with Maddox forever. And yet, I know that can’t happen. For now, I just want to enjoy the fantasy. And I want to know more about this man. Why is he here? What crazy past is he running from?
The masks. The guns. The knives. They all point to a past of criminality.
“Tell me more about your past. You can’t scare me off,” I murmur.
His cock twitches inside me, making me moan. And then he smirks. “Are you sure about that, angel?”
I nod, gazing into his eyes. “I’m still here, and I saw you kill two guys.”
He nods. “Yes, you are.” And then he looks into my eyes. “You’ll probably want to get dressed for this conversation.”
I shake my head, wrapping my arms tighter around his neck. “No, I want to stay right here.”
A wicked grin crosses Maddox’s face. “Well, let’s see. Where do I start? I’ve done bad things. My past is a graveyard of mistakes.” Maddox’s eyes darken. “I struggle with impulse control, and it led me down some dark roads.” His jaw clenches. “I wasn’t always like this.” Maddox continues, his gaze never leaving mine. “There was a point in my life when things were normal. But it was a long, long time ago.” He falls silent, his jaw clenching as if the words are difficult to release. Then, finally, he continues, “I was involved in some pretty serious crimes. Bank heists, to be specific. I’ve killed more times than I can count.” His words hang heavy in the air, the silence between us palpable. “And that’s why I have the masks. Disguises, really. I was damn good at robbing banks, too, until I wasn’t.”
His face tightens further, his eyes hardening. “One day, I slipped up. They caught my face on camera. It was the end of my game.” His voice is barely a whisper. “I had to get away, so I moved here, to Alaska.”
He pauses, his gaze flicking away from mine briefly. “That was seven years ago. Since then, I haven’t dared leave this place. The heat has died, but the risk is still too high.” He sighs heavily. The weight of his past seems to settle on his shoulders. “And that’s why I’m here, angel. Trapped by my past, confined in my own prison.”
His confession hangs in the air. “Wow,” I respond, my voice steady despite the knot in my stomach. “You certainly know how to keep a girl on her toes.”
I can feel his hard arousal throbbing inside me, and it’s clear his dark past excites him as much as it unnerves me.
“Talk about skeletons in the closet, huh?” I lift my eyebrow, attempting to lighten the palpable tension. Despite the chilling confession, I can’t help but feel a strange sense of intrigue. I tighten around him, my body betraying my fascination with his deranged past. “Well, if you think your past will scare me away, you’re wrong..”
A smirk spreads across Maddox’s face. “Trust me, angel,” he responds, his voice laced with a dark promise, “I knew I was stuck with you the moment I laid my eyes on you.” His fingers trace the curve of my spine, his touch both feather-light and electrifying. “And I have no intention of letting you go.”
