“No the hell you won’t,” I say remembering how big her ass was even as a preemie. He looks at me over her head and my body heats instantly.

“Nope, we have some place to be so stop giving that look. Let’s get dressed baby,”

I help Brooklyn, out to the car waiting for us eyeing her outfit for the night. “You’re looking especially delicious tonight,”

“Thank you, I hope this is appropriate, you didn’t tell me where we were going,”

“It’s definitely appropriate and you’ll find out soon,” I tell her as the driver opened the door for us and I help her settle into the car. The peach leather shorts, with the cream graphic tee, high heel sandals and gold accessories are just the right level of classy and sexy that she balances like a pro. Mickey has thickened her up even more than she was before and I love every new inch. Jaasiel and Parker came by to get Mickey so I could take Brooklyn to see her surprise. I settle in next to her holding her hand as the driver moves smoothly over the road for about thirty minutes before he comes to a stop.

“A concert? Who’s here?” she asks, almost knocking me down getting out of the car.

“Come on woman, you’re so impatient,” I grab her hand walking her to our designated seat in the front of the venue as everyone else finds there seats as well. Our seats are roped off and there are bottles of water and a wrapped charcuterie board for us. We take our seats, unwrap the board and snack as we wait for the show to begin. Soon the lights are dimmed, and several spotlights light up the stage, “We have special guests here tonight, and I learned that this song is one of their favorites, so to Aryan and Brooklyn, this is for you,” the artist says before the first strands ofEverythingbegins to play.

“Are you serious!” she says bouncing in her seat. “Ella Mai and John Legend?” She can barely control herself. I pull her to her feet and begin dancing with her to one of our favorite songs.

“I love you baby, thank you for bringing life back into my heart,”

“I love you too,” she says.

The concert lasts for the next few hours, and we enjoy every second ofEllaandJohnsinging their songs, as Brooklyn sings off key in my ear the entire time, but she is so happy I don’t even mind. I had to call in a few favors to get tickets for the sold-out concert tonight, but it was well worth it to have my ear drums permanently damaged from what she calls singing.

“This has to be the best ending to our honeymoon, I don’t want to go home,”

“I don’t think we have a choice baby. We have to get our daughter and you have a practice to go back to although I think Trevor would do just fine running it in our absence,” I say.

“Please he can barely pull himself away from Eliza to come to work as it is,”

“I am not mad at him. Eliza and Emerson are amazing women, they deserve good men in their lives,” I tell her.

“Like me,” she says peeking up at me.

“I am the lucky one for sure,”

“We’re both lucky, to have lost so much and to get a second chance at love is a blessing I will never take for granted,” she tells me and it’s like it’s meant whenJohn LegendsingsOrdinary People.

“I agree baby. Maybe Edreece and Sophia guided us to each other,” I think out loud.

“Maybe,” she says laying her head on my chest as we enjoy the rest of the concert. I am not sure if they did or didn’t guide us to each other, but I want to believe they did. I can say with the way Edreece took care of Brooklyn in life and death, he probably sent her to me, although as long as it took me to get myself together, I wonder if he regretted sending her to me. But I think I can say he finally feels like he made the right decision.

EPILOGUE

Aryan

I finish transcribing my notes from the day in my office and prepare to go grab Brooklyn so we can head home. “Dr. Aryan, there is someone here asking for Dr. Brooklyn,” comes through the interoffice pa system.

“I’ll come out,” I say. I know Brooklyn is breastfeeding McKinley, and that is why she is not responding, so I head out of my office to see who is asking. The receptionist is new. Otherwise, she would know the schedule. I bump into Dr. Mack when I step in the hallway.

“Sorry, Trev,” I tell him. “You look like you are in a hurry,” I say to him as he rushes past me.

“I am. I am late to a date with Eliza. I don’t like to keep her waiting,” he says, stepping into his room and returning seconds later, missing his lab coat.

“How are things going with you two?” I ask. He looks at me, smiling and blushing.

“That good, huh,” I say, and he just smiles harder.

“Tell Brook I’ll see her tomorrow,” he says, opening the door to the waiting room. “Parker!” he says, pulling her into a quick hug before hurrying out the door.
