“Shouldn’t do this?” Max leans forward, the warmth from his breath hitting my ear. “Does this feel wrong?” He kisses the lobe of my ear and then a sensitive spot behind it, causing me to inhale sharply.

How did I not know how much euphoria could be triggered from that one spot? His lips close, suctioning, as a low chuckle vibrates on my skin. His warm fingertips then glide down my lower spine and rest on my hips. Everything he is doing renders me silent.

“Your words can’t find the power to reject me, and this right here…” Max runs his nose over the pulse of my neck before sucking on it softly. “This pulse is frantic for my touch.” His finger dips into the Cool Whip. Before his finger meets my lips, my mouth has already parted eagerly.

Our eyes stay transfixed as Max presses the whipped cream finger into my mouth. My lips close as Max glides his finger down my tongue, sliding it back out between my lips. I hum in approval at the cool, sweet texture of the cream, and in the next second, his lips are crashing onto mine with dominated desperation.

I don’t have to look down to know there is now a damp spot visible on the outside of my sleep shorts. My body aches with the need to feel every inch of his skin rub against mine. I’ve never been more turned on and we haven’t even hit second base. I deepen the kiss, grinding myself against his erection, but he pulls back. He winces as a pained look takes over and his hands vacate my body. Max tightens his lips with a deep breath and I run my hand through his hair to calm him before he can. My eyes remain on his, searching for answers.

“You stopped,” I state, but I meant it as more of a question. My head is woozy, high on endorphins.

“I did.” He nods and leans back to give me some air. “The next move is on you, Kelsie. Consider this a final warning.” Max seems to gain better composure to collect himself the more he speaks. “If I start again, there will be no more stopping to make sure you want this to happen. Another side of me takes over, and I don’t want you having regrets.” His hands hang at the sides of the chair and my skin thrums to feel the pleasure I know his hands can bring me.

He remains silent and averts his eyes to the reflection of us in the window. We look hot. Something straight off a steamy Pinterest board, but his eyes don't meet mine in the window. He’s trying to give me time to think about my answer.

Do I really want my mind to start thinking more than my body?I swallow and nod, catching his attention. The pulse between my legs throbs with a sharp ache in need of a release, and I fidget against him, feeling a build. I should ride out this tension to see if I am actually broken besides the use of toys. I have the rest of my life to think about the rationality of it all.Right?I’m waiting for his hands to touch me, but my eyes still haven’t met his blues to confirm my yes. Max must sense my internal fight with mind over body, because as I rub my center against his twitching dick and rest my hands on his chest to lean in, he speaks once more.

“Kelsie, make sure your head wants this as much as I know your body does.” He looks down between us as his dick stays pressed against me. His eyebrows draw in as he fights his own needs. “Damn, baby girl. You’re drenched.” I feel my eyes light up at the nickname.Baby girl? Who knew I had a thing for that?Max clears his throat and looks back up at me. “That face was beautiful, baby girl.” His face breaks out into a satisfied smile. “Does that name do it for you?”

I feel myself blush and refocus on the conversation. “The next move is on me?”

“You need to let me know if you want to explore us for the night and bounce back to being friends in the morning light. I can handle doing that. Can you?”

I swallow, slightly annoyed that the moment we were both in was halted by a conversation. Even though I know Max is right. I need to be sure I can handle an intense moment and not want anything more than one night. We need to stay friends. Will tomorrow be strange if I don’t follow through with sleeping with him? Will it be awkward if we actually do have sex and have to forget about it? I steady my breathing and bring my hands up to cradle his face.

“I want to test if I’m capable of an earth-shattering orgasm,” I whisper, but don’t make a move. “But I don’t want the moment interrupted. You killed the mood.”

“It was a conversation that needed to be had, Kelsie.” Laughter reverberates in his chest, and he turns his head to kiss my hand. “I’ll keep that in mind if there is a next time.” I stand and pull at my sleep shorts that are now stuck to me. “You should probably go take care of yourself.”

“I could take care of you,” I whisper, and lock my eyes on his large erection.

“Not tonight, baby girl.” He shoots a wink my way and pushes off the chair before heading back to his room.

Chapter 12

Kelsie

I hand my brother James’s backpack full of everything he needs and turn to Mallory, who is too excited to pay attention to what I’m trying to explain to her.

“Remember, you do not take off on your own and you stick with James.” I hand her a safety watch with all our info in case, God forbid, she gets separated. “Disneyland gets very busy.”

“Mom, I know. You tell us that even when we walk into a store,” Mallory states and pushes her way out the door. “Come on, Uncle Adam.”

“I trust you, but please be safe.” I give my brother a quick hug after my ten-minute lecture on child safety, as if he hasn’t been with my kids on a regular basis since birth. “Maybe you should take some security.”

“Yeah, that won’t draw any attention, Kels.” He quirks an eyebrow and squares his big shoulders. “Do you really think anyone would mess with me?” How we are polar opposites beats me.

“Enjoy the gala and your quiet night, Kelsie.” Lauren smiles. “Seriously, the kids will be fine.” After another round of hugs with my kids andI love yous, Max shuts the door as I rest my head against his arm.

“I’m sure they’ll be on sugar highs and their best behavior for Lauren and Adam.” Max smiles down at me.

My hands reach around his bicep, and the pads of my fingers run over the large vein bulging out of his arm. “I know the kids will be fine.” I hear a slight whine in my voice. “They’ve just never been a plane ride away from me.” Max presses a lingering kiss to the top of my head and walks down the hall with me on his arm.

“How about a quick workout to clear your mind before you start getting ready for the gala.”

“Ugh, I’m dreading this gala event more than I’m dreading how you’ll make me do a few extra weighted squats when I want to quit.” I let go of his arm and follow him into his room. I mean, myguest bedroom.

“Nah, I’ll take it easy on you.” Max shoots me his boyish grin. “You’re going to be walking and dancing around in heels for hours on end tonight.”
