“I met a group of college girls this weekend at a buddy’s place. Man, I had three of them pinned against the wall as they sat with their thighs resting on my shoulders.” His smile must be hurting his face by now. “Not all at once, obviously.”

“Duh, dumbass.” I smirk.

“Then, the smallest one slid right onto my dick and I fucked her as the others watched.” He lifts his water bottle in the air with his achievement. “It was such a wild night, Max.”

“I see you’re putting your workouts to good use.” I shake my head and load on another set of weights. “You ate out three women in one night? Did they just wait in line?”

“Pretty much.” He laughs. “They took turns watching each other and then compared my skills to my buddies’.” His grin is too cocky, and I add extra weights for the hell of it. “You should come next time, dude.”

“I’ll pass on that.”

“Man, you plan to settle down and make babies? You’re too panty dropping to act like an old man.”

“There will be no settling down or planning for babies.” I pick up some weights and do a few reps to burn off anxiety as it creeps up. “Relationships always end.”

“Seems that way. Join us at a party. I promise I won’t ask you to come to another. I'm throwing one this Saturday at my place.” Eric picks up the bar and struggles with the added weights. “Fuck, this is gonna kill tomorrow.”

“Okay, one party and no bitching if I want to leave. Most college girls are too young for me.” I guess one way to blow off steam and move on is to get lost in another pussy.

“Nah, some have graduated too.”

After I’ve finished up with Eric and another client, I clear my head as I drive along the coast to Adam and Lauren’s new place. The house sits on a hill cliff with large windows looking out to the ocean. Marin county is beautiful and definitely more Adam’s taste than a city penthouse. I park my 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that was passed down from my grandfather and knock on the front door. I wait two minutes and knock again with an aggravated sigh.

“Were you standing here long?” Adam stands shirtless with his hair looking like it’s been pulled on. “We didn’t hear you pull up.”

“Hey, Max.” Lauren walks around the corner, smoothing out her dress as if she quickly threw it on.

“Am I interrupting?” I didn't walk through the door just yet, even though they were expecting me at this time.

“Ten minutes ago, you would have been. We were lying in bed, listening for your car.”

“I’m going to go shower, so you guys catch up with your bro talk, or whatever it is you do.” She smiles at me, walking down the hall with a purposeful strut, and Adam watches her with hungry eyes.

“Fuck, man, can you keep you dick in your pants for one day? You can’t be that fucking horny every day of your life with Lauren.”

“She possesses me, bro. What can I say?” He peeks down the hallway, and a grin grows. “I’ve even found a perfect ring,” he whispers, and I feel my eyes bug out.

“Holy shit, Adam. I’m happy for you, man, but you just got back together, or got together.” I shake my head. “Whatever complicated shit you two were.”

“I know. It’s too soon for her. I’ll wait a couple of months, but I don’t want to wake up with anyone else. I want every moment to be spent with her.”

“I don’t understand the need for the whole marriage thing, but I’m happy for you two.”

“How is Kelsie? I'm supposed to be going over there on Sunday morning with my parents,” Adam explains as we walk out to his backyard and take a seat by the pool. “My parents wanted a quick business meeting before Monday.”

“I haven’t talked to her since I moved back to my place, but she seemed fine. She vented a bit, and I helped with the kids. Nothing new.”

“Thanks for being our best friend.Andsoon-to-be best man.” Adam winks.

“Just wait until my speech. You might say otherwise.” I stare out at the ocean, and we spend the rest of the afternoon catching up.

“Thank you for picking them up.” Helen smiles when I arrive at her door. “I forgot I had an appointment today and George is still working.”

“Mallory and James are great kids. I’m always happy to help.” Helen had texted me in a panic to see if I’d be able to watch Kelsie’s kids for an hour before Kelsie got off work. “It’s Friday, and I planned to be at their house with Adam and Lauren anyway.”

“I’m surprised she’s up for that tonight. Poor thing could barely keep her eyes open yesterday.” Helen’s eyes fill with concern as the kids get their shoes on. “She’s been off the past few days.” She eyes me, as if looking for something she can’t decipher.

“Well, I am back at my condo, and she doesn’t have an extra set of hands anymore to help out with the kids. Plus, working full time and Mallory’s swim team takes energy.” I glance at James. “James probably still isn’t sleeping well. Shouldn’t kids sleep through the night by four?”
