“I wanna taste you.” She’s small, but when she attempts to push me up, I let her. “Lay down, big guy.” I follow her request as she shrugs off her jacket. “God, I bet your cock is huge.”She’s not wrong.“Unzip your pants and let it spring free.” Damn, she’s bold, and I do as I’m told.

“Do you think you can take it all?” I smirk as she straddles my legs.

“You damn well better make me.” She reaches on her cluttered nightstand for a hair tie, I assume. Then she gives up and reaches one hand back to gather her hair before leaning down. Looking up, she waits for me to take her hair. “Be rough, Max, I won’t break.” Her lips give a gentle kiss to the tip of my dick, and my stomach turns. Not from the joint or cheap liquor. “What a beautiful cock.” She eases my cock further into her throat each time, until I nearly hit the back of it, and she gags. I nod in approval and have to say I’m impressed she could almost take all of me. Katy reaches up to cover her hand over mine to signal my control.

I grip her hair tighter and begin to thrust, but guilt eats away at me. Kelsie and I are nothing but friends, yet I can’t picture letting any other woman touch my dick except her. Would Kelsie be able to take all of me? I should have put her pretty plump lips to the test before she cut us off. Katy’s brown eyes look up at me and my pathetic self tries to envision Kelsie instead. This is wrong.

“Sorry, I can’t do this.” I release my grip and still my hips as Katy’s head pops up. “I need to head home before I really hate myself.”

“Seriously?” Katy looks offended. “Your dick seems to be enjoying my mouth.”

“I promise, it’s not you. I have so much shit in my head I need to work through, and I can’t focus on this moment.” I get off the bed and zip my pants back up. “You're skilled with that mouth of yours, but I can’t stop thinking about how I want someoneelsesucking my cock instead.” I don’t wait around to hear if my honesty is appreciated or not. An epiphany takes hold of my body. There is no one else I want. Kelsie is worth all of my time, attention, and fucking scared as hell heart. And I need to prove it to her. Somehow.

I head home, down two bottles of water, search for eyedrops in the cabinet, and set my alarm to spend time with Kelsie’s kids tomorrow morning.

Chapter 22

Kelsie

MyparentsandAdamstand around my kitchen island as we go over a few new business strategies. I’ve picked most of the nail polish off my nails in the past twenty minutes as my stomach grumbles. I nod and pretend I am paying attention to my mother and Adam speak, but I make a mental note for a few days of self-care. The past few weeks have been mentally and physically draining on me and I am approaching my breaking point. Stress has taken a toll on my body and has thrown my system completely off. My body is sore, bags are under my eyes, and I have zero appetite, despite the current grumble. Not to mention, Lauren dropping by last night kept me up half the night.

My gut clenches as I think about how fast I fell for Max. I thought I’d be stronger to fight off his charm. He makes me feel complete. Safe.

Now, there is nothing he doesn’t know about me. I got too comfortable too quick with having him step up and assist in co-parenting.If I can call it that.He and I make a great team and our sexual chemistry is phenomenal. Losing my friend over a few orgasms is something I will never recover from if we make a wrong move. That, and I know how anti relationship he is.

Max walks through the door with Mallory and James, who clearly still need more of their energy burned.

“I had so much fun at the park.” James smiles, holding up a painted rock. “Look what I found.”

“Come on, James.” Mallory jumps up and down. “Let’s go hide our treasures for Mom to find later.” They bolt down the hall to their rooms.

“I probably shouldn’t have stopped for ice cream on the way home.” Max shoots me a guilty smile.

“Thank you for taking them out.” I don’t bother complaining, since he meant well.

“Hey, how was Eric’s party?” my brother interjects with a wink. “He invited me, but I got caught up with Lauren in our new hot tub.”

“God, I’m never stepping foot on your property again.” I cringe.

“The party was nothing special.” Max shrugs and glances around the room. “I ended up leaving early. Not my scene anymore.”

“Yeah, it would feel too weird to leave Lauren and go party.” My brother laughs. “Look at me, all domesticated and shit.”

“Did you have enough time to finish your meeting?” Max smiles at my parents.

“Of course, dear.” My mother rests a hand on his shoulder. “How is your training going?”

“I have a waitlist of clients.” He laughs. “I could work seven days a week if I really wanted.”

“Mama!” Mallory walks into the kitchen and my stomach bottoms out, pulling my lungs along with it. “Why do you have a math stick in your bathroom?”

I can’t breathe. “A math stick?” I’m thrown off by her assumption as all eyes zone in on me.Shit. “Put it back and go play,” I reply with hopes we can all forget about what we saw, and go back to our casual conversation.

“Look.” She walks right up to us, and my ears feel every beat of my heart as she hands it over. “There’s an equal sign when you turn it vertical.” James calls out her name, and thankfully she loses interest and runs after him.

I glance down at the two pink lines in utter confusion. I look up at Max, whose eyes are bouncing between me and the test. He must be in shock because they grow larger, and I can hear his deep, erratic breathing.

“I knew it.” My mother points both index fingers out, looking back and forth between Max and me. “This means that George is coming to the tea brunch this weekend,” she gloats like she has won some type of bet.
