Kill him.

“Oh fuck,” Ryder said under his breath. “We’re losing them both.”

I dove toward Drachu just as the king lifted the female off his face to peer toward his abdomen. His eyes narrowed, and he tossed her to the side, her cry of protest carrying through the water as he sat up.

Ilara’s hand wandered up Drachu’s stomach, her expression coated with lust as the other female continued bouncing on top of the king, his dick sliding in and out of her.

The Lochen concubine was completely oblivious to what was happening while the look on Drachu’s face told me he was growing more aware by the second that something else was at play within his chambers.

My arm whipped out, ensnaring Ilara around the waist, and I wrenched her back. Haxil and Sandus took her, using their warrior strength to keep her from returning to the Lochen king as bloodlust consumed me.

Kill him.

Kill him.

Kill him.

“Norivun!” Nish yelled just as my death affinity burst out of me.

In a heartbeat, Drachu had the female off his cock as his glittering emerald eyes shot daggers our way.

“Can he see us?” Sandus called as he tried to pull me back.

“No, we’re still hidden,” Ryder replied.

I snarled when my death affinity didn’t move faster through the water.

“Ilara,” Drachu called in a sing-song voice that immediately sent shivers down my mate’s spine. I could practically feel it myself through the bond.

I snarled in fury, and the arousal pounding from Ilara increased just as my affinity reached the king.

I ensnared the foreign king’s soul, loving the feel of Drachu’s life within my grasp.

His eyes flashed wide open.

The concubine who’d been riding him shrieked, the sound strangely clear through the water, just as Drachu’s lips peeled back in a hiss, and the necklace glowed against his chest.

In a swell of power, Ilara screamed then curled over as a huge rush of her life-giving affinity coated the king’s entire form. Magic shot out of Drachu, hitting me squarely in the chest and stopping my death affinity in the process.

I flew back in the water, slamming into the wall behind me as my guards descended.

Swords were in Nish’s and Ryder’s hands as they tried to tear the necklace from Drachu’s throat, but Drachu was too fast, too superior in the water.

The Lochen king whizzed across the room in a blink, his canines lengthening as magic pounded from his form. He still couldn’t see us. My illusion affinity was still intact, but he no doubt felt our movements, the water speaking to him in ways it never would to us.

I kicked away from the wall, my hands in front of me as my wings tucked into slits at my back. Ilara continued to thrash against Sandus and Haxil, trying to work her way free just as I swam toward the Lochen king.

“Ilara,” Drachu crooned again. “Have you come to join my harem? I do so wish that’s the case. I’d love to fuck you beneath the wav?—”

I slammed into him, my hands locking around his throat as another rush of Ilara’s affinities exploded out of him.

Our affinities collided, the strength of my mate’s magic coiling with mine until a ball of dense energy burst between me and Drachu. A shockwave ripped through the water as we fought, his hands on me, mine on him, as our magic’s intensity grew.

Walls began to crumble in the room. The two concubines screamed again before diving through a shattered window. Sounds came from down the hall as Drachu shrieked for help from his guards.

All the while, I refused to let go of the king. With that pendant around his neck, he commanded my mate entirely. She would always be susceptible to his reach. Always crave to do his bidding. She would never be free of his greedy power.

Pain continued to thrum from Ilara as I slipped a finger around the tether holding the pendant in place.
