“Where the fuck are you?” I growl when I wake up my cell and find nothing from any of my brothers.

Opening up the tracking app, I find that they’re almost at the cabin.

It felt like I was cleaning for hours, but apparently, not.

Assuming Dev is driving, I find my chat with Ez.

Reid: Anything?

My heart pounds as I wait for it to show as read, and the second it does, I sit forward.

Ezra: Patience, big brother.

Reid: Ez…

Ezra: We’re approaching the cabin via the trees. Trying to keep alert.

My teeth grind and my grip on my cell tightens, but I understand his jibe and don’t reply.

Trust them to do their job…

My cell goes to sleep, leaving the room in darkness apart from the light I left on in the bathroom.

Every minute feels like an hour as I wait for news.

Why the fuck I didn’t send them with comms, fuck only knows.

By the time the screen finally lights up with Devin’s smug fucking face and his middle finger raised—a photo he stored for himself on my cell—I’m pretty sure I’ve ground a few of my teeth down.

“Are they there?” I bark the second the line connects.

“No,” he says simply.

My entire body deflates.

“But you know where they are, right?”

“Also no.”

“FUCK,” I roar, barely holding myself back from launching my cell across the room.

“You seem to care a lot for someone who isn’t meant to care, Bro.”

“Shut the fuck up, asshole. I want that place scoured for clues. I need them found. Now.”

“Ez and Ellis are already on it. If there is anything here, we’ll find it.”

“Fucking hell,” I mutter, tugging at my hair in frustration. “Wherever they are, he’s hurting them to get to me.”

“Seems like it’s working,” Devin mutters like the helpful prick that he is.

“I will not give him the satisfaction of beating me—beating us. No matter what it takes, his time is done.”

“I’m with you, Bro. One hundred percent. We’re taking this motherfucker down.”

He hangs up long before I’m ready, leaving me with nothing but silence and desperation.

With only one other person I trust to give me intel, I find Aubrey’s contact and lift my cell again.
