Taking a step toward him, the others move with me.

But as much as I want to raise my gun and put a bullet through his head, it’s not my place to do so.

It’s Mav’s.

Despite knowing that, my grip on my gun tightens as the need to end this motherfucker burns through me.

It takes a couple of seconds, but a smirk pulls at Razor’s lips. The sight of it makes rage surge through my veins.

Arrogant motherfucker.

"You hurt my wife,” Mav states, his voice cold and void of any kind of emotion.

Razor laughs. It’s evil, dropping the temperature of the air around us by more than a few degrees. Beside me, I sense both Mav and JD close in on Alana, protecting her from his poison.

“I’m not sure that’s how I remember it,” he confesses darkly. “You loved it, didn’t you, princess?” he sneers.

He barely gets the words out before Mav has his gun raised and the safety off.

Alana gasps in shock. But as much as I want to turn to her, to make sure she’s okay, I don’t take my eyes off Razor.

I expect him to pull his own weapon. But he doesn’t.

Seconds pass and with each one, my hackles rise more.

We might have set this meeting up. But what if it was a trick?

What if they’ve come with more manpower and firearms than us?

Unease washes through me, not that I let Razor see it as father and son silently glare at each other.

“Lie to me again,Dad,” Mav taunts. “I fucking dare you.” His voice is like ice. I’ve known for years that he’s as dangerous as I am. We were brought up the same. Had similar training. Had our minds filled with nothing but violence and fed all the promises of the things money and power can buy.

The only difference from back then is that I thought he fell for it.

How fucking wrong I was.

“She’s a whore, Mav. A dirty, rotten wh?—”

Bang.

Alana screams as Razor’s eyes go black a beat before he drops like a rock onto the unforgiving, cold concrete floor.

“Oh my God.” She whimpers, staring down at him. “Y-you… you shot him.”

“Did you have other plans for him?” Mav asks, a hint of amusement in his voice. “Because I didn’t.”

“Maybe you should have because the second Victor notices his absence, he’s going to realize that we’re all alive and gunning for him,” I point out.

“Uh… Shit.”

“Too fucking late for regrets now, man,” JD says, clapping his hand on Mav’s shoulder and stepping up to Razor’s lifeless body. “Fucking good shot though. Right on the money. You seen this, bro?” he asks, looking back at me.

“Yeah,” I agree, taking in Mav’s handiwork. “I guess I should call in a cleanup crew, huh?”

“Is that a good idea?” Mav asks.

“Do you have a fucking better one?”
