Mason stopped in his tracks.“Candi?”
“Yeah. No one really calls me Candace.I’ve been Candi since I was a baby,” I explained.
“That’s…” He shook his head.“I can’t call you that.”
I scrunched up my face.“Why not?”
“Uh, I’m just not someone who uses nicknames, I guess,” he stammered.
Wyatt started pulling trains out of a bin in the corner of his room, telling me about each as he placed them on a small area rug that had train tracks printed on it.“This is Wyatt’s room,” Mason explained.“Mine is directly across. You have the master.”
“That’s not at all necessary, Mr.Davis.”
He waved a hand.“Call me Mason. And honestly, the room was just the one no-one was occupying. It’s a small apartment, but I like to be as close to Wyatt as possible.”
Odd, but okay.
I grabbed my phone to text Elyse.
OMG he’s even hotter in person!

Chapter4
Mason
“It’s okay. And you can call me Candi.”
I stopped.I could not have heard her correctly.“Candi?”
“Yeah. No one really calls me Candace.I’ve been Candi since I was a baby,” she responded.
She wants to be called Candi?Who the fuck asks to be called a food?A childish food, at that. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.I refuse.“That’s… I can’t call you that.”
She scrunched up her face.“Why not?”
“Uh, I’m just not someone who uses nicknames, I guess.”That much was true, but there was no way in hell I was calling someone, particularly an adult, Candi.
