“I needed his permission,” Sergio replied, as if it was obvious.
I shouldn’t have been so surprised by the way Sergio included Wyatt at this point. “So, this whole thing…?”
“Was an elaborate scheme to propose. Yes. In fact, Wyatt and I have something for you.”
I could hear Connor singing on stage, accompanied by Tom on an acoustic guitar. My sister handed something to Wyatt, and Mish handed something to Sergio.
Wyatt opened the small box and pulled out a silver bracelet. “Mama, I think you need to marry Sergio,” he said with a very serious look on his face. He placed the bracelet in my hand. “I practiced putting this on Auntie Mish, but my fingers don’t work it, so you have to do it yourself.”
Everyone laughed. I grinned. “Thank you, sweet boy. I think I will marry him.”
“Today?” Wyatt asked. Sergio and I let out deep laughs.
“He’s working right now.”
Sergio got down on one knee. “Kate. I’ll marry you now if that’s what you want. Right after this set. You are my forever, and I can’t wait any longer to put a ring on this finger.” He slid a platinum band with a square amethyst in the center onto my finger. Wyatt’s birthstone.
“We are in Vegas. I’m sure there’s somewhere we can get married later. Think the groupies have plans?” I beamed.
“We’ll get someone to ask. So that’s a yes, then?”
“I already said yes.” I pulled him back to standing, noting that the song was coming to a close. “I love you. Now go back to work. I need to find a dress so we can get married later.”
His smile could’ve lit the sky. “I can’t wait.” He kissed me before running back on stage.
I turned to Elle and Mish. “I guess I need a dress.”
“I’ve got you covered,” Mish said. “You aren’t the only one keeping close tabs on wardrobe right now.”
My mouth fell open. “You have a dress?”
“Not just a dress. The dress,” she replied. “Come on. I’m hoping it doesn’t need too many alterations. I didn’t think you were actually going to get married as soon as you said yes.”
“Then why did you bring a dress?”
She smirked. “Your future husband is very cocky.”

Four hours later, I stared at myself in the mirror backstage. When Elle had shopped for wedding gowns for her marriage to Mason, I had tried on a few just for fun and fell in love with this one.
It was simple, but elegant. The top was strapless and did amazing things for my boobs. The waist was beaded with pearls, and the bottom was flowy satin. Elle had a costume designer on hand to make a few adjustments to make it fit perfectly, and Mish had found a flower crown to set on top of my loosely curled hair.
“Holy shit. I’m getting married,” I said, looking in the mirror.
My sister took a deep breath. “I don’t want to rain on your parade, but I want to insert a bit of caution here. Because it took you years just to date the last man you were with, and it wasn’t even that long ago.”
“Stop dancing around what you are saying, Elle. I get it. It’s only been a minute since Eli died. I can’t explain in words what I have with Sergio, but I don’t want to be overly cautious the way I was with Eli. Eli and I missed out on so much because I was too scared to move forward. I don’t want to do that again. I know we love each other. He’s good to me and Wyatt.”
“Noted. You’ve thought this through.” She smiled.
A car picked us up to meet the guys at a twenty-four-hour chapel. Beth and her crew had the place locked down for our arrival and let us know Sergio was anxiously waiting for me inside.
Wyatt met me at the at the door. “I’m ‘sposed to walk with you,” he explained.
This kid could really rock a suit. In the last year, he had worn one so many times it almost felt routine, but he looked no less adorable each time.
