Paul reached for it, then stopped and kissed me again. The rugged scruff of his stubble scratched against my face. One hand moved to the back of my neck, and the other drifted back up to my chest, caressing and squeezing in turn. My hips thrust forward, and I silently plead with him to quench the heat radiating out from between my legs. He knew what I wanted. What I needed. He was playing with me like a new toy, and I didn’t mind at all.
With his lips still against mine, he began tracing patterns down my body, circling lower and lower. Just as he started to slip my dress down over my hips, his phone buzzed once again. He paused, then stepped away and pulled his phone from his pocket.
“Yes?” he said, sounding rightfully annoyed.
Without his hands on me, I feel awkward and exposed. I grabbed a shirt and threw it on to cover myself.
“Where?” he asked into the phone, eyes narrowing.
“Fine. Meet me at the house, I’ll be there shortly,” he said after another pause.
He put his phone back in his pocket and opened the bedroom door.
“Change and grab what you need. We have to go,” he said, barely even glancing at me.
“Did something happen?” I asked him.
“Nothing to concern you. Now get your things.”
Chapter Eleven
Paul
Coglione. Stronzo. What the fuck am I doing?
Following my dick and not my brain, that’s what.
I let my guard down and did exactly what I’d told myself not to.
I needed to focus more on the job and less on fucking the boss’s daughter.
Good damn thing that the call from Alec interrupted us before we went too far.
Nothing happened, and I wouldn’t let it happen again.
Once she’s at Angelo’s I can keep my distance from her and we can both just forget about this.
Gia came out of the bedroom carrying a backpack and an old scuffed-up duffle bag that had definitely seen better days. She was wearing jeans and a simple T-shirt. All I could think of was the curves of her breasts straining under the snug shirt. Her rosy nipples were almost visible through the white fabric. My cock twitched and I reached forward to take her bags from her.
“I’m ready to go,” Gia said, taking care not to meet my eyes.
Her landlord was nowhere to be found as we exited. Not that I’d expected him to be. I put her bags in the car and we took off, heading to Angelo’s large home across town. Although he lived there as well, it had several extra bedrooms and guest suites for any of the family that might need a place to lay low for a while.
“So, um, what happened?” she asked. “About the phone call, I mean. Not, um, that other thing that happened.”
“That other thing didn’t happen. Clear? And the phone call was Alec. Sabitino has stepped up and moved against us, officially. We need to act now,” I told her. “That means getting you out of the line of fire.”
Since she’d be staying at Angelos, she would find out what was happening anyway as soon as we got there. So it wouldn’t hurt to tell her now, and it helped to break the tension that was in the car between us. And also served as a reminder to her that she’d entered into a new world now. One far more dangerous than her previous world, sleazy landlords notwithstanding.
“A truckload of weapons has gone missing. We just confirmed Sabitino was the one who took it. And according to the information we’ve received today from various sources, this is just the start of it.”
“Weapons?” Gia asked me, hesitating.
“Yes, weapons. What would you expect, kittens?”
Her lips grew tight and she threw me a dirty look. Excellent. If she was pissed off then she wasn’t hurt and I didn’t have to feel guilty about it.
She didn’t ask any more questions and we drove in silence until we reached the LaRosa mansion.
