Page 90 of Off Limits Daddy
It took a moment for my words to sink in. I knew the moment they did because his eyes watered and his smile was radiant. "You're pregnant?"
I nodded and a giddy laugh erupted from me. "I confirmed it this morning. You’re happy, right?"
"Are you freaking kidding me? You’ve given me everything I want. And now you’re giving me more. I've always wanted a woman to love and a house full of kids."
I hugged him tight. "Thank you, Duncan."
He pulled back to look at me. "For what? I'm the one who should be thanking you."
She shook her head. "It's truly the other way around. I worked so hard to keep this out of my life. Love was off limits. Growing up, raising my siblings, it took so much away from me. I thought that was what family was. But with you, I know I was wrong. I can have my career and a family. I love my career. I love how you support me in doing it. But at the end of the day, what really fulfills me are you and Aiden and Amanda."
"And now we’re adding to our brood. You want to know what I think?"
"What?"
"I think you were always the only woman for me. And I was the only man for you. It took a hell of a long time for me to find you. I’d like to have found you twenty years ago.”
“Twenty years ago I was fourteen.”
“Okay… so maybe not twenty years ago. Jesus… I’d forgotten I was so much older.”
“That’s because I’m so mature.”
He grinned. “That must be it. The point is, we came into each other’s lives at the right time. Everything has turned out exactly as it should."
"I think you're right." I leaned over and kissed him.
"Oh, God, are you guys kissing again?" Aiden stood at the top of the stairs of the deck, his hands on his hips making him look a little bit like Peter Pan. "You guys are so embarrassing."
I rose from my chair. “I can kiss you. In front of your friends.” I reached out for him.
“No.” He laughed as he sidestepped me.
“I’ll kiss you.” Duncan’s large arm reached out, wrapping up Aiden and pulling him into his lap. He landed a kiss on Aiden’s forehead.
“Yuck.”
“I want a kiss.” Amanda appeared at the top of the stairs. I picked her up and brought her to where Duncan and Aiden wrangled in the chair.
“Group kiss.”
Aiden protested, but in the end, he gave in. I held my husband, son, and daughter like the gifts that they were. And how lucky was I that more gifts were coming? Another baby. More love to give and get and share.
Aiden finally broke free and ran off. Amanda got distracted by a butterfly.
Duncan pulled me into his lap. “Guess what, Agent Kick-Ass Ashworth?”
“What?”
“You’re exactly what Aiden and I, and Amanda, and this new life need.”
Maybe it was hormones, but I teared up. “You’ve got it wrong, Mr. Rock My World Ashworth.”
He grinned at the name.
“You and the kids are exactly what I need.”
He kissed me. “Maybe you can tell, but I have other needs.”
I felt his need growing under my backside as I sat in his lap. “Now’s not a good time.”
“I’ll think about spreadsheets. That always deflates my dick. But promise me that later tonight, you’ll let me love you into ecstasy.”
“I’ll let you love me any way you want. Forever.”
