Page 9 of Thor & Dragon

We all pile into a couple of booths next to each other and damn it all to hell, Dragon slides in next to me. Sasha smirks at me while Alexei eyes Dragon warily as we place our drink orders and take the menus from the server. Dragon clears his throat and looks around at us.

“How long have you guys known each other?”

“Since before preschool. Our family recently moved to the area, and we three hit it off almost instantly. Been inseparable ever since,” Sasha says.

Sasha, Alexei, and I were definitely inseparable growing up. They’re twins and their family moved from Russia to Forest Creek when they were three. After a car accident killed their parents in sixth grade, they ended up in the foster system. My parents tried to become foster parents so they could keep them close, but before they were qualified, Sasha and Alexei were already placed in a home.

While we were happy that they were still in town and nearby, their foster parents were only about the money. They barely did what they needed to do to provide for the twins. They weren’t abusive, thankfully, just assholes.

Sasha and Alexei were frequently over at our house to escape from them, and it never bothered my parents. They were there so much that they had their own rooms. Ever since then, we’d basically been adopted siblings in all contexts but legally. When we were in high school, Travis and Ethan moved into town, instantly clicking with us, and were frequently at our house as well.

“Agreed. We’re so close that we consider each other siblings. Even Dad calls them his kids, though they aren’t his legally or by blood.”

Dragon’s gaze flicks between her and Alexei.

“Are you two brother and sister?”

They both nod in response.

“Unfortunately, been saddled with this one since conception. Been a thorn in my side ever since,” Alexei said as he dodges a head swat from Sasha.

“Aya, you’re lucky I love you,????.”

I chuckle at their antics, but Dragon looked slightly confused.

“…Russian?”

“??, we rarely speak it since mainly Levi and Roy understand. But if it’s just us four, we’ll sometimes slip into it,” Alexei said and Sasha nods in agreement before she narrows her eyes and points her finger at Dragon. If we weren’t in a restaurant, I’m sure she would have used a blade rather than her finger.

“However, you piss any of us off enough, you most likely will have Russian rant directed at you. Possibly even knives. Fair warning. Also, only warning you get.??????????”

I bit my lip to keep from chuckling, even though I can hear Travis and Ethan laughing quietly behind me. Her accent had thickened, and whenever that happens, she slips a bit more into her broken English. Same with Alexei. Honestly, I love when their Russian came out. That usually happens whenever they’re emotional, but then again, I also love to speak Russian almost as much as they do.

“Fair enough,” Dragon says, though he does seem slightly worried.

I smile at the twins and open the menu, even though I already know what I want. We’ve been here often enough that I really didn’t need to look, but I need something else to focus on instead of the heat coming off Dragon. Also, it’s not helping that his leg is damn near touching mine, which makes it extremely hard to focus.

A few minutes later, the server brings us our drinks and we place our orders. My usual is their house burger with fries. It’s drool-worthy good.

While we wait for our food, we chat, and gradually, I can see Alexei becoming more relaxed around Dragon, which surprises me. And he wasn’t the only one.

Everything was going well until Dragon puts his arm behind me on the back of the booth and my body immediately tensed up. I hate when guys do that unless we’re dating. Even then, I found it barely tolerable. I shift a bit more to the left and forward as I try to put more distance between us.

Dragon seems oblivious to my discomfort, but Sasha picks up on it immediately. She’s about to say something, but I subtly shake my head. I don’t want an argument to possibly happen since I don’t know Dragon very well and have things get out of hand in here. The owners are already leery of bikers, and I really don’t want to be the reason behind bikers, in general, being banned from the restaurant.

Thankfully, our food comes a few minutes later, and he moves his arm. My body relaxes and out of the corner of my eye, I notice a frown on his face as he glances at me but says nothing.

We tuck into our food and as the first bite of my burger hits my tongue, a moan escapes at how good it is. It’s like an orgasm for your mouth. A mouthgasm. Haha… Yeah, I’m a dork.

As I open my eyes, the twins are trying to keep from laughing and Dragon has me pinned with a heated stare.

“What? Their burgers are awesome. You don’t like me expressing how happy my tastebuds are, then either don’t listen or go sit somewhere else,” I say as wave them off and take another bite of my burger.

The twins’ shoulders shake with their silent laughter, but Dragon makes a soft, weird, almost strangled sound. I glance at him in confusion. What the hell is his problem? He shifts in his seat and that’s when I realize what his problem is. Oh… I take another bite of my burger to hide the grin on my face. Gonna suck for him when he gets back on his bike.

However, the thought that I cause the same reactions in him that he does to me makes my chest warm and my cheeks burn. Though on the flip side, that thought also scares the shit out of me, since I know he could never be mine. I’m not a hit-it-and-quit-it kind of girl.

After everyone finishes their meal and has a bathroom break, we head back out to our bikes. As we near our bikes, some other bikers roll up and my gut is instantly in knots as the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. They’re eyeing our group closely and make no attempt to hide the fact that they’re basically eye fucking Sasha and me.
