“First few minutes of a new year, and young men are still horny about breasts,” Victoria whispered, smile askew. “At least we know that has stayed the same.”

His face heated, and he shrugged. “When they’re as nice as yours are in that dress, can I really be blamed for struggling not to stare a little?”

“I haven’t blamed you for it,” Victoria said. “I’ve told you before, I don’t mind.”

A chorus of joy echoed boisterously within his head. “Okay, then. So long as we’re on the same page.”

Her amusement expanded, though any chance to take advantage of it was rapidly fading. Avril had gone around to the other side of the counter, and he noticed her eyeing them with a devilishly teasing smile. She might not have overheard their whispers, but her face was anything but clandestine as she winked at him. Tess and Anna were chatting behind him, so at least he could hope they hadn’t noticed how long he and Victoria had been lingering so closely.

“About my breasts?” Victoria teased, raising an eyebrow.

“That’s what we’re talking about, isn’t it?”

The voluptuous brunette snorted softly. “I suppose we are. Here. For your memories of tonight, Liam.”

Whether it was because her opinion of him had improved upon learning that he’d been helping Anna this whole time, whether it was because the alcohol tingeing her veins had made her a little less picky, or whether it was because six years was quite the lengthy absence, Victoria wanted a little more intimacy with him than he’d expected when she’d called him toward her a minute ago.

Her hand slipped away from his arm. A moment later, it and its sibling pushed between the gaps between his arms and his sides. Liam barely had time to respond before Victoria wrapped her arms around his back and pressed her heavenly breasts against him. He had even less time to admire how soft and full they were, though he made every second count. Hastily, his arms did their part to complete the embrace.

Thankfully, Victoria took care of the issue of pressing into him, thus ensuring he knewexactlywhy so many male freshmen decided they justhadto take an ecology class in their first semester at Bellmore. However, they’d never experience an iota of the bliss that he now experienced, all while his heart rammed itself against his ribs as he absorbed every bit of warmth and softness that Victoria’s arousing body could provide.

“Suddenly, I’m overcome with a desire to learn about termites and their habitats,” Liam whispered.

Victoria’s eyes shimmered mirthfully, aware of the callback he was making. “If you give me your email, I could send you what my class learned—and what Avril didnotlearn—about them.”

“How about phone numbers instead?” he asked, keeping his voice low.

“You would like my phone number so we can talk about termites?” Victoria asked, withdrawing a touch from the embrace they were sharing.

“And for one other reason,” he admitted.

The voluptuous professor stared at him. “Liam, that may be a bit too much to ask me for.”

But he shook his head. “No, not that. It’s about something else. It’sactuallyrelated to school stuff. You’re the person I want to confide in about my… thoughts for the future.”

She eyed him quietly for a few seconds before ultimately nodding. “Okay. I’ll trust you’re not up to something. We can trade numbers, but I’ll want to know what you’re referring to sooner than later.”

“I promise to make it the first thing I text you about,” he said.

Finally, their embrace ended. Unquestionably, it was the best start to any year Liam had ever experienced. His anxiety indeed spiked as he took the first step in a change that he’d been mulling over for the past week or so, but he smoothed it after a brief internal battle. He had no doubt that Victoria would offer him her honest opinion, so he’d at least know if his idea had any merit.

In every other arena of his life, he was pretty much ready to burst into jubilant song and dance. Avril grinned at him from the other side of the bar counter; Anna and Tess each smiled at himfrom next to him; Victoria watched him with a hint of curiosity and interest following what he’d hinted at.

However, they weren’t long for lounging.

“Now, who wants to go see the prize room?” Avril said.

Chapter Thirty-Six

Points and Prizes

Clapping her hands like an impatient schoolteacher, Avril waited for them at the door to the hall and then marched them across it once they’d gathered around her. Her aim was the closed door on the other side, which none of them had spared a second glance toward before now. Bouncing in step, Avril turned and faced them once she reached it.

“Everybody remember their points?”

“Two-fifty,” he confirmed, and everyone else did the same to appease their guide.

“All right, good.” Avril stuck her hands behind her back and began fiddling with the doorknob. “Just know, all prices are final, so no haggling. Otherwise, spend away!”
