I can’t keep still any longer. My palm glides up the soft skin of her cheek and into her hair, my thumb caressing her chin.

What I really want is to trace her lips. First with my fingers, then with my lips and tongue.

Ask me to kiss you, my eyes plead.

This first move has to be hers.

I want her to want me. I want her to forget all about De Marco and their past together.

We are the future, her and me.

Ella’s hand shoots up to grab my wrist. I expect her to pull my hand away from her skin, but she surprises me. Her grip tightens to hold me in place while she nuzzles her face closer into my palm.

Fuuucckkk.

My heart leaps and pirouettes.

Kiss me, Sunshine. Please!

My cock is hard and twitches when she leans against me.

“Ade,” she whispers, her voice thick with desire.

Her pulse beats wildly. I feel it in every fibre of my being. It echoes with mine.

Then a shot cracks through the air like a sudden burst of thunder.

Ella freezes.

Her movements stop, her hand on my wrist loosening its hold.

No!

Ella’s gaze falls to the floor, our connection broken. Embarrassment has her cheeks burning bright red.

Damn!

Why do Ian and Claudette have to practice right now?

Another shot is fired, and Ella takes a step back, putting more distance between us.

No fucking way!

A heavy exhale leaves her. She takes the gun from my hand, remembering what we came here to do.

Without looking at me, she readies herself for another shot.

Staring at the target, she takes her time before pulling the trigger. The bullet lands right on the mark. Her face lights up with a mixture of astonishment and delight.

“You did it!” I exclaim, unable to contain my excitement. “That was a great shot!”

“Oh my god!” She sounds so surprised, jumping up and down full of excitement. “I did it! I actually hit the target.” Her eyes sparkle, and she throws her arms around me, and I twirl her in a circle.

An overwhelming sense of pride fills me.

That’s my girl.

After our near kiss, I would have thought her too flustered to hit the target, but she surprises me at every turn.If that had been me, I’m pretty sure I would have missed. But here she goes, executing a perfect shot.
