“Yes.”
“And bite me again?”
“Oh yes.”
“And make me a vampire?”
He chuckles. “Patience, sweetheart. We’ll get to it.”
“Boo.”
“Gods, you’re adorable. Can you trust me to know when the time is right?”
“I guess.”
“I want to. I swear to all the gods, I want to, but for once in my long life I don’t want to be impulsive. It’s a decision that can’t be undone. We both need to be ready for it.”
I nod. “I understand. I’ll be patient and trust you.”
“Good. Now prepare yourself for something unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. I’ve been holding back, but I won’t tonight.”
My entire body heats as my cheeks burn. “Please don’t.”
Smiling, he scoops me off my feet and carries me bridal style to the bedroom. I can’t believe this is happening, but if I’m dreaming, please don’t ever let me wake up.
Chapter 20
THORN
Finally. It feels like an eternity since I’ve indulged in Kyson’s flesh. Now that he knows what I am, I no longer have to hold back.
I toss him on the bed, eating up his sweet giggles as I pull my t-shirt over my head. Kyson kicks off his socks and unbuttons his pants, watching me with a gorgeous smile on his face.
“Is there a god or goddess I can thank?” he asks, tugging his shirt out of his waistband. “Like, give them an offering or something because they sent you to me?”
“No, it wasn’t a deity. It was fate. The universe. However you want to frame it. It’s a mystery, but from Yves’s research we know that a supernatural soul is not fully evolved or complete until they’ve found their fated match.”
“So everyone has one?” he asks, pulling his shirt off.
“Allegedly. I thought I had been skipped.” I kick off my jeans and climb onto the bed, settling between his legs. “We show our appreciation for this gift with our love and happiness.”
“That’s beautiful,” he whispers, playing with my beard. “I feel like I waited a lifetime for this.”
“I hope I’m worth it. I’ll be worthy of you, Kyson. I promise.”
“I’m not worried about that.”
Scooting up his body, I slide my hand behind his neck, but instead of kissing him right away, I simply stare at his face, taking in every amazing detail. Kyson takes a deep breath but doesn’t flinch under my gaze. He searches my eyes, eventually reaching up to touch the tips of my fangs.
“They’re so sharp.”
“They have to be.”
“You bite people with them?”
“I do.”
“Does it always feel good, like when you bit me?”
