Once the three of them are inside, I lock up, and Skye jumps. “What is this place, Ray?”

“It’s my office, kiddo.” I lift my hand, and she reaches for it. Coming to stand at the side of me, I say, “I’ve got you your wedding present. It’s up to you what you do with it!” I grin at her and then step to the side. The thrashing starts up again, and she jumps back and gasps as he slams his body into the bars, pleading with her with his eyes.

“Is that…? ” she trails off.

I nod, and she gasps, pulling her hand to her mouth and turning to slam herself into Tank. “Who the fuck’s that?” he snarls.

“Darren Staines … Alice’s mum’s boyfriend.” I grin.

“What the fuck?” Tank bellows as he drags Skye behind him to protect her. “Why the fuck would you bring him here?” Tank yells at me.

“For me!” Skye steps out from behind him. She walks over to me and hugs me. “I don’t know if I can do this!”

“You don’t have to do anything! He can suffer as much or as little as you want, he can die fast or slow, he can suffer at your hand or mine, but the one thing he won’t do is leave my office breathing!”

“You did this for me? For the baby?” Skye asks.

I nod. “I did.” This fucker could ruin everything if he found out about the baby she’s carrying, and she won’t be able to bring that baby into the world knowing he’s still out there.

“Give me your phone!” She hands it over. I tap a few things on it, then whistle for a bit. “Waiting for the app to download!” I wink at her, and then when it does, I log in and set it up for her, waving her over. “Right here, I’ve logged it in, this scrolls through, this zooms in. It’s a live feed 24/7.”

She scans the room, smiling when she sees the cameras and glances back at the phone. “What does that do?”

“Wait!” I rush over to the cell and grab the tape from his mouth, ripping it off and making him flinch, but he rests himself back against the bars.

“Alice?” he groans out.

“Press it now!” I whisper as she does. He screams and drops to his knees, shaking and convulsing as he gasps to the floor.

Her eyes widened. “Did I do that?”

I nod, excited at the look on her face. “It will only let you shock a maximum of ten-second bursts. I don't want you to fry him before you decide what you want to do with him. But you can take as long as you like to decide. I’m not feeding the bastard, but he can have water, so I say you’ve got two or three months before he dies anyway. Suppose that’s enough, great. If not, let me know what you want to do. This, you can keep an eye on everything, but if you want to come down here, just ask.” I tap the table, and she follows my gaze and grins.

“You can strap him to that?”

I nod.

“I can do anything I want!”

“Anything, or I’ll do it if you would rather!”

She starts crying and throws her arms around me. “Thank you, Ray!” She grins, and I kiss her on the forehead.

Clutching the phone to her chest, she walks back over to Tank's arms. “Can we go back to the apartment now? I’m still tired.”

He nods and wraps her in his arms as he leads her up the stairs. I push the button to open the hatch.

“Skye,” I say before she reaches the stairs, “Here!”

“What’s this?”

I hand her the rucksack, “It’s everything I could find at the trailer that you might want, also…” I tilt my phone and hit play. She watches with a gasp and a sad smile.

“Is it really gone?”

“Yeah, it’s really gone!” I smile at her.

“I’ll head back too,” Dane says, following them out.”
