Her hair is down but swooped to the side so her long graceful blonde waves flow down to the underside of her left breast.
When her glossy pink lips press together I remember how that mouth of hers felt around my cock, and I wish I hadherlike that again.
Instead I’m here, jealous of the attention she’s giving the document over me.
Autumn leans to the side to look at another file and I take in the sun-kissed skin of her legs and the rest of her body, a roadmap to my temptation and a redefinition of allure.
Fuck me.Autumn Jakobe is a fucking masterpiece that has my heart doing backflips, and the best thing about her is that she doesn’t know the effect she has.
She’s a siren in the midst of my chaotic life and, like the helpless sailor, I’m ready to accept her call again to get lost in her.
Deciding to make my presence known, I take a step forward.
Autumn looks up and as our eyes lock, I’ll be damned if time doesn’t hit the pause button.
We stare at each other while the air around us crackles with an electricity that makes everything inside me stop.
She moves first, straightening, and her hair frames her face, giving her that sultry, sexy look I remember all too well.
“Hi.” Her voice, a velvety murmur, wraps around the simple word like a gentle caress.
“Hello, Venus.” I call her the name I christened her because it seems fitting. As I expected, she blushes, and a playful smile pulls at her lips.
“I didn’t see you there.” She looks me over carefully but the same spark of interest I saw back in Vegas flickers in her eyes.
“I figured.” I walk inside her office, stopping before her desk, which I now see has a neat display of documents and multicolored pens laid out in front of her computer. “So, this is where you’re set up to work?”
She seems to relax a little at the mention of work. “Yeah. This is my nine-to-five for the next few months.”
“So… not atTheChronicle?” At the mention of her work place she realizes I looked her up.
Something I can’t put my finger on clouds her eyes. It looks like a shock of sadness. “I’m on a sabbatical. My parents thought it would be good for me to do the article on the team. I suppose it gives me something to do.”
“That’s nice of them.”
She looks at me like she’s expecting more questions about her life, but I hold back. I don’t know the specifics of what happened to her but knowing she was in a serious accident where someone she cared about died is enough for me to be considerate of her feelings. Plus there’s the added knowledge of hearing she’s on a sabbatical.
“I suppose it was nice of them.” Her offbeat tone tells me she doesn’t exactly think so. Maybe she’s had run-ins with her father, too. Her mother seems kinder, but I have to wonder what kind of people her parents really are to be okay with the situation surrounding her ex and her sister.
“Was there anything else you found out about me?” Nervously, she bites on the inside of her lip.
“There were a few things.”
“Like the bad stuff my ex said?”
I raise my brows, impressed she cut right to the chase. “I saw that, but since Iknowfor a fact that your ex is a literal prick who doesn’t know his head from his ass, I didn’t really pay much attention to that.”
She smiles, looking grateful. “Thank you.”
“It’s fine. There were more than enough things about you that impressed me.”
“Like what?” Hope sparks in her eyes and I can see that she’s glad I saw past the bad press.
“I saw you won a few awards for your writing, and I read some of your articles. They were amazing.” I don’t mention the accident. It’s not my place.
“I’m glad you think so.”
“I do.” I also thought she was wildly underrated in her family. Apart from her father’s success with the team and his equipment company, her sister and mother get talked about the most. “What about me, Venus? Did you look me up?”
