We all do things we aren't proud of. Things we don't like, things we don't show. Some say 'grin and bear it' I say, keep it under the skin. I'm not right in the head though so you shouldn't really take my advice. Especially if you knew where I was right now. Spoiler alert! I'm in some guy's basement. He brought me here. I do believe his intensions are nefarious. I should be terrified. I should be trying to figure out how to get away. The shoulds are stacked to the ceiling and still...I'm doing none of them. I'm wondering what his kiss would taste like. Would it kill? Will he? I'll never tell him, but I'm dying to find out.
Lyst Candor has never been able to fully embrace normalcy. She's always been a bit...askew. Right and wrong are a large grey area for her. So when she's abducted from a dark parking lot it's easy for her to go with the flow. She finds herself torn between the life she's always had and a life that could end tragic and short. She's intrigued by the darkness of the man who has taken her but she still longs for the light of the man she was taken from. The more time she spends with her abductor the more she remembers of her past. Of the life she was keeping under the surface. The darkness compels her for a reason. Something inside her finds it familiar.
There's something there clawing to get out.
Something under the skin.
*Under the Skin is a dark romance and may contain triggers for some readers.
Keep in mind this version has been condensed for the anthology and will be released in full at a later date. Please expect plot holes and areas of grey. I hope you still enjoy my anthology debut!
Dedication
This one hadn’t been intended for anyone.
Chrissy and the rest of these anthology authors changed that.
Thank you for the invitation and the wonderful experience!
Thank you for the advice and support, and most of all, thank you for the inspiration.
Chapter One
LEST YOU BE PRICKED AND THIMBLED, STAY SPRY AND NIMBLE.
It’s under a sky full of stars dulled by pollution, and a sticky heat that makes me want to gag, that I find myself experiencing my fourth orgasm of the day.
Caerus has that effect. Boyish charm and darkness in his eyes, he absolutely captivates me. It’s been that way since we found each other all those years ago.
“Bless the fuckin’ rain you are beautiful.” Caerus sighs into my sweaty hair.
“Do I smell like sex?” I chuckle against his neck.
“You better. I put in the work, after all.” Caerus gives me his cult leader smile and I swoon.
Maybe you think bar alley sex is disgusting, and you’d be right, but if you knew this man…you’d do much worse.
Although our relationship is certainly less forbidden now, having grown up in foster care together some would say we’re heathens for it. We met in the home when I was nine and Caerus was ten. We were attached from go but when I was fourteen things…escalated. It was a delicate secret among the writhing pile of them that I still try to keep at bay.
“Let’s get back inside before they throw us from the game.” He groans and slaps my butt as we turn to go inside.
He returns to the game of pool we abandoned and I hit the bar for another drink.
