My legs ache and my eyes can barely stay open at this point. The sun streaming through our window behind the light curtains only makes me sleepier. Crawling into bed, my mind blankets in darkness the moment my head hits the pillow.

Chapter Seven

Melanie

Dreams of hellfire licking up my skin make me cry.Someone, anyone! Help me!I struggle but I’m moving in such slow motion and going nowhere. The flames grow higher and higher, and I can smell the scent of burnt hair, making me want to gag. My skin begins to boil, but it doesn’t smell like burned flesh. It smells rotten, likeinfection.

I scream, and a hand clamps over my mouth. My eyes blink a few times until it adjusts to coming back into reality. Jaiden’s face is right in front of me. He has an expression I haven’t seen before. Another sound reaches my ears and Jaiden jumps off me and back to his side of the room.

The door creaks open, and I shut my eyes, trying to breathe evenly like I’m still asleep. How long was I out?The sun’s already gone down.

“Are they asleep?” my mother whispers.

“Looks like it.”

“We should say goodbye before we go.”

“There’s no time. Our flight leaves in a couple of hours. We need to go.”

“I’ll leave them a note.”

“Just hurry up. We don’t want to be late.”

“Okay.”

The door softly shuts, and my mind starts to run with thoughts of our parents leaving us for the next couple of weeks. Are they going to leave us money for food? Do we have emergency numbers around? They’ve never left us before, and it makes me nervous.

That’s because you’ve always been a good girl.

I can’t help it. I can only cook so much and how are we going to bring groceries home? I only have two arms.

You have Jaiden.

What if Jaiden decides to not come home? The assholewoulddo that to me. I’ll be here all by myself. What if someone tries to break in while I’m sleeping? My mind is going a mile a minute and I lose track of time. I’m mentally cataloging everything in our pantry and how long it will last us when my bed dips.

“What the hell are you doing?” Why am I whispering? Our parents are probably long gone by now.

My head turns to look at the digital clock on my dresser when a strong hand forces my head back. It’s become pitch black now and the only thing I can see is the silhouette of his head and hair falling in front of his face.

His cold hands push my shirt up and I don’t know why I let him. He’s been a dick to me all day. I should kick him in the balls and force him back to his side.

But when his warm mouth covers my nipple, my fingers thread through his soft hair and pull him closer. His tongue does wicked things to me as he blows cool air across my breast, making my nipple harden with the drastic change in temperature.

His other hand has crept into my panties and pushes his palm against my clit. The touch feels good but it’s not enough.A torturous tease.

He peppers kisses down my stomach and diverts to my hip bones, making me frustrated. The bite was unexpected as well as the pinch on my clit, making my hips thrust forward of their own accord. What is he doing to me?

Thoughts of him doing this to another girl turn my lust into anger. Grabbing his hair, I pull on it to make him stop but he doesn’t. Instead, he knocks my hands away and slaps my pussy over my panties, making me yelp.

We fight, my knees trying to get enough leverage to toss him off me, but Jaiden pushes my legs apart with his shoulders.

“Get off me!” I yell out.

He chuckles as we begin to wrestle on my twin-sized bed. I growl and elbow him in the ribs, making him hiss. I feel bad for a second and he uses that to his advantage, ripping my panties, making the elastic snap against my skin.

“Fucking hell!” I yelp.

“Open your legs, Melanie.”
