He nodded, then took to the sky with his sons. I decided to take a stroll in the sun, relishing the heat of the rays on my skin. I stepped over the corpses of allies and enemies, and felt nothing but pride. No other vampire Royal could have accomplished what I had against such a threat. Any one of them would have fallen by Alexander’s hand, as that was his plan, to kill them after me. But here, I lived, stronger than before and it was because of my allies. I had been mocked by other vampires who felt it was too risky and foolish of me to make such bonds. Well, who was laughing now? As it was, I was sure I was the strongest vampire Royal in the world, and that made me very happy. Those who betrayed me better pray I didn’t get ambitious.
Chapter nineteen
Kendrick
“MyLiege,I’monmy way home now, along with the rest of our dragons. The loss in our numbers were not too great, only thirty-seven dragons had fallen,” Hexon said, giving me the update.
I snarled because in total, I’d lost five hundred and thirty-four dragon soldiers. Thank god all of my Knights had survived. I believed it was because, though Alexander's army was vast, it was also filled with a majority of vampires two centuries old or younger. I suppose the war he had with Ara and Evander that ran him out of town, did significant damage. Still, five hundred and thirty-four of my powerful dragons are dead. That’s a loss I don’t take lightly.
I had Hexon on speakerphone because both Elliot and I were soaking in our tub after that battle. After receiving word from Tylendel about what had happened with Alexander, I was relieved to know the war was over. However, I did wish that I’d been there to see Théoden get manhandled and thrown around like a rag doll. Apparently Alexander also handed Ara his ass to him on a silver platter. But in the end, he was no match for my Knight.
“So, Elijah is okay?” Elliot asked.
“Yes, Raja, he was injured in the battle, but his wounds have healed, their pack took a loss of a hundred and seventy-nine wolves.”
“Damn.” Elliot frowned.
I felt bad because those were wolves he knew. “All right, thanks for the report. Come back home,” I said.
“Oh, one more thing, Your Highnesses,” Hexon said.
“What?”
“Deacon was able to reach Elijah and he let him know that they are more powerful than before. Apparently, he swore his servitude to Ara in exchange for what the vampire King offered. He ate a portion of the heart of the defeated King, Alexander, and now his wolves seem to be immune to fire; they can heal and move faster, as well. I saw that with my own eyes,” Hexon said.
“Are you serious?” I asked, even though I knew he was.
“Yes, my Liege.”
“So, what the fuck does that even mean? That Deacon gave himself to Ara?” Elliot asked.
“You will have to ask him the particulars, Raja,” Hexon said.
“Well, that’s your boy,” I told Elliot, who gave me an expression that said he didn’t appreciate my comment. I snorted. “Don’t look at me like that. I had his back.”
“He did what he felt he had to do. What was best for the pack. That’s all Deacon ever does,” Elliot said in Deacon’s defense.
I shrugged. “It’s not my business,” I told him, then turned to my cell. “That’s it for now, Hexon.” I ended the call and sat back in the tub, closing my eyes to relax.
“His pack has become even stronger now, which means they’re a greater ally to us,” Elliot said.
I smirked. “Yeah, that’s if Ara and I don’t fall out.”
“Oh, come on, Kendrick. Ara knows not to fuck around with you.”
“We lost almost six hundred dragons across four countries. I want my share of the spoils of this victory, I know that fucking much,” I said.
“We have over forty-three hundred male dragons and twelve Knights,” Elliot said. “Anyone would be a fool to fuck with us.”
“Fools are born every day. Dragons are hard to come by, Elliot. We’re born, not made. And it can take a male and female dragon centuries to reproduce. So, the more dragons we have, the better our chances are of making new ones. And then, of course, they have to reach the age of maturity,” I said.
“And I’m sure other dragon Kings have the same issues. What they don’t have are wolves, who can be made. Wolves with a lot of the powers our dragons have and their own. We need to make more, so we have as many wolves as we do dragons,” Elliot said. “And if nothing else, you can always challenge another dragon King, kill him and conquer his dragons to increase our army.”
Well, that was an idea. I pursed my lips, and he kissed them. “That’s not why I was doing that,” I said after he pulled back.
He smiled. “I know, but I can’t resist that sexy fucking mouth of yours. Why don’t you put it on my cock?” He climbed out of the tub, sitting on the edge, and his huge dick was rock hard and jutting up, waiting for my attention.
“You want me to put my mouth on your cock?” I teased.
