Olin considered his relationship with pain and getting tattooed. Maybe Daniel had a point. He nodded in understanding.

“Just to be clear, for Shep and I both, you are completely new to this and expressed an interest at Meegan’s request?” Daniel asked.

“I wouldn’t say at her request. I expressed my interest in dating her exclusively and she explained to me that the community was a big part of her life. She asked if I was interested in learning more and I am. I was aware of some things, but I’ve learned a lot going through the dossier and the checklist. I learned alotgoing through the checklist.”

“The checklist will fuck you up,” Shep said, dryly. Daniel snickered a little. “One moment you think you’re in for some run of the mill bondage and the next thing you know, you’re fist deep in a woman who likes to call you Daddy.”

“You don’t have to do either of those things,” Daniel assured him before he reached over and pulled a tablet from the bag Keira left behind. “I brought your checklist and Meegan’s, if you’re okay with me pulling those up. I know you’re not a part of The Club now, but we implemented a compatibility feature in our database to help people work out fresh scenes, try out new partners and such. Since Meegan is your current partner you’ll have access to those features through her.”

“Okay, that sounds good.” Olin swallowed. He wasn’t nervous. He was anxious, like this was his one chance to pass a big test. He knew that what he wanted mattered in this relationship, but he wanted to make Meegan proud, too. Most of all, he wanted to make her happy. He wanted to live up to all the men who had brought her to the heights of pleasure she clearly craved, and needed. He had to get this right.

“Great,” Daniel said. “Let’s get started.”

It wasn’t until they were on the couches outside of the AMC that Meegan’s heart rate started to level out. She’d been so concerned about Olin that she hadn’t really appreciated that this was gonna be the second time he saw Shep and Claudia together. A very silly and paranoid voice in her head was convinced Claudia knew all about her long, drawn out pining over Shep, but Claudia didn’t act that way at all. Claudia was cool and calm and really funny. She also had Shep wrapped around her finger. Meegan could see now how devoted they were to each other, how right they were for each other. Both sarcastic and a little dark with their humor. They were a good match. Plus, Claudia was fucking hot. She didn’t blame Shep for putting a ring on it at all.

But that wasn’t the real epiphany that had knocked her for a loop. Sitting at the table next to Olin, feeling his little touches on her leg throughout the night, the extremely sexy, but not at all cocky way he’d taken care of the check without her knowing (god that shit made her so hot), the way she liked hearing him talk about his past work and his future professional plans, the thoughtful questions he’d asked her friends even though he wasn’t big on small talk. Olin had made such an effort for her, for their future together, and she realized she was well and truly over any lingering feelings for Shep and Daniel. She’d still fuck both of them for fun, but felt something shift as she followed Keira and Claudia down the escalator to the yogurt shop. She was falling hard for Olin. She wanted to be his and she couldn’t wait to tell him.

She and the girls hung out under the heated lamps by the movie theater and Keira told them about how things were going at The Club.

“I still feel like it’s Daniel’s realm, but I’ve been having fun. Especially with new members,” she said.

“I know I haven’t been in a while, but Marcos said before that you are crushing it,” Meegan told her. “He said something like you made the mood lighter. You didn’t serve under Evelyn and Philip, so you kind of missed the intense parts. They were open and welcoming, of course, but they were born out of a very intense seventies and eighties leather scene. It’s harder to get younger millennials eased into those elements. You made it more friendly, especially with your cosplay stuff.” Keira really loved her cosplay.

Keira shrugged, smiling from ear to ear. “I mean, fucking should be fun right?”

“Hear, hear,” Claudia said, holding up her empty yogurt cup.

“But, you’re right, and we still have our more old school style members. We want to keep the spirit alive and sometimes that comes with change. Positive change.”

“I’d be more active if we lived closer,” Claudia said. “But our schedule is so tight and Shep and I want to get our time, just the two of us, when we can. Shep still likes his once a year visit, though. Will you be there this weekend?” Claudia asked Meegan.

“No, unfortunately. Olin has a thing and I’ll be his very sexy date.”

“Yeah, you will,” Keira said with a wink. A half second later, their phones vibrated or chimed all at the same time. “Must be the boys. I’ll tell them where we are.” Meegan looked at her screen and there was a text from Olin.

Finished up, coming to you.

Meegan gathered up their empty yogurt cups and tossed them. A minute or so later, the boys came walking up the ramp that curved around the front of the Vans store.

“Hey, honey! You looking for a date?” Claudia called out.

“Stop,” Keira snorted as all three of them stood, waiting for their respective boos. Meegan felt like there was a magnet in her chest drawing Olin right to her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and then kissed her lightly on the lips. Something about him was a little off, like he was overheated. She’d talk to him about it when they were alone.

“How’d it go?” she asked.

“Good.” Yeah, his voice was definitely tight.

“Olin asked all the right questions. You’re in good hands.” Daniel said with a firm nod of approval.

“I figured I was,” Meegan replied.

“Hate to break this up, but I gotta tuck this one in. We’ll see you guys soon.” Shep bent down and tossed a squealing Claudia over his shoulder. “Say goodbye.” He turned around so Claudia and her mussed hair faced them.

“I’m gonna kill him. Goodnight everyone,” she breathed. “Nice to meet you, Olin.”

“Goodnight,” they all said. They watched as Shep walked over to the top of the closest escalator, carrying Claudia like it was nothing. He finally put her down and Meegan could see Claudia’s playful yet fuming glare at a distance. When they started kissing, Meegan averted her eyes.
