Zander: How about Wednesday?
Me: Can’t. Early clinicals the next day
Zander: Thursday?
Me: Around 7? I’m free
Zander: Long time between now and Thursday
Me: I know
Zander: Can I call u in between?
Me: Sure. Curfew’s 11 on Mondays til Wednesdays
Zander: Curfew?? U kidding?
Me: No. I have to get up really early on those days. Clinicals start at 6:30.
Zander: That sucks
Me: Kinda, that’s just the way the life of a nerdy student goes
Zander: Alright, Thursday then
Me: K, goodnite
Zander: Goodnite. Dream of me
With that, I went to bed dreaming of him.
Over the next few days, Zander and I kept in touch with phone calls and texts. I told Kieran that Zander and I were seeing each other. He made a few comments about the tongue-drilling that Zander and I were giving each other at the bar. I silenced him and reminded him that I was holding a grudge for the Aaron Miller revelation. He just said that Zander seemed like a ‘good fellow’. Kieran was so weird sometimes. Who described a guy as a ‘fellow’ nowadays?
On Wednesday night, Zander asked me if I wanted to do something in particular for tomorrow. I said it was up to him.
Chapter Nine
“There’s always a first for everything”
Zander
I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t really make plans. I just wanted to see her. It had been 5 excruciatingly long days since I last saw her.
I called and texted her every day, but it wasn’t the same.
As much as I wanted to see her, she really had tons of stuff to do and our schedules were both heavy, so this was not a good week for us to meet up.
When I picked her up at her apartment on Thursday night, she smelled so good and she looked gorgeous. Her hair was tiedinto some twist behind her head; she was wearing jeans and a sleeveless top.
Each time I saw her, it was like I was seeing her for the first time. I have seen and been with beautiful women. Sedona carried this innate beauty that appealed to an intrinsic part of me. I couldn’t figure it out. It confused the hell out of me.
I didn’t even wait until we were out of her door before I kissed her. Her response told me that she missed me as much as I missed her.
By the time I pulled out of our kiss, my voice was husky, "Where do you want to go?"
She lowered her lashes, I held her chin up. Her face was hot and flushed.
"I just want to chill," she said, "Maybe we can rent a movie."
