Ugh. That sounds pathetic. A virgin at 28? Guys are going to come running.

“Men should send pictures in grey sweatpants instead. You know, like it’s a hot picture but leaves more to the imagination.”

“Agreed. You can tell the next one that.” She laughed. “But I still think you should hold off on the profile. At least hear what he has to say.”

“What do you think he will say?” I chewed on my thumbnail.

Holly twisted her lips to the side, lifting one shoulder. “I don’t know him, but I can tell you that any guy would be a complete and utter idiot to not want you. Because you, Haley Rivers, are the bomb.com.

“All that and a bag of chips?” I laughed.

“Every bag of chips.” She hugged me. “Don’t let any man tell you differently.”

“You’re right,” I huffed. “I’ll talk to him when I get back from Colorado.”

“Haley,” she warned in her mom voice.

“What?”

“You’re really going to wait that long?”

“It’s just a week and I need time to process.”

She rolled her bright green eyes. “Fine. But at least tell Ry and Steph.”

“I will.”Later.

Holly eyed me suspiciously like she knew better but dropped the subject as I shoved another cookie in my mouth.

My brother walked into the kitchen, dropping his coat on the floor. “Hey. What are you doing here?” Braden asked before giving me a quick side-hug.

“You better pick that up,” Holly said, one hip jutted to the side. He smirked and kissed her on the cheek.

“Yes, Ma’am.”

“Are you just getting off a shift? You smell like crap.” I joked but leaned away from him until my back hit the cabinets. Braden had joined the fire department right out of high school and to this day, I could not stand the smell of smoke that lingered every time he came home from a shift.

“I was actually supposed to get off a couple of hours ago, but there were a few guys going through the academy soon that stopped by to get a tour.” He bent to pick up his coat and hung the coat in on the back of a chair. “I’ll hang it up in a minute,” Braden promised a scowling Holly and then grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.

“Any good-looking guys?” I wiggled my eyebrows. Holly shook her head.

Braeden scrunched his nose. “I’m not exactly a connoisseur of good-looking men, but your friend Grayson was there.”

I popped up. “What?”

“Yeah. At least I’m pretty sure it was him.”

“Grayson is a firefighter?” Why the hell would he hide that from me? Did Stephanie know?

“Well, shit, Hales. Go jump on that.” Holly laughed.

Braden pressed his lips into a tight line, grabbed his coat, and backed out of the room. “Don’t want to be a part of this conversation.” He spun, promptly striding out of the room.

“How will you ever get any nieces and nephews?” I yelled after him.

“Don’t want to hear it.” His voice echoed through the house, and I chuckled. I was almost thirty. You would think my brothers would’ve gotten over that by now.

Holly grabbed the rolling pin. “Seriously. Firefighters are hot. Go for him if you don’t want to think about Asher anymore. I’m sure he would be on board.”
