“You ran away from me that day.”

“I’m so sorry.” She twisted the small gold band on her finger and my chest swelled at the sight. I wasn’t sure if she was apologizing for running or not giving me the chance to explain who Stella is.

“Whydidyou run?” I asked, wanting to know what was going through her head. I had a pretty damn good picture from her face that day in my driveway and from Gray at the bar, but I wanted to hear her say it.

She tossed her hands in the air, annoyed. It was cute. “Because a beautiful woman answered the door after you told me not to come over. Because you were half naked. I couldn’t stand the thought of you with her, and the way she looked at you.” She shook her head, lips pouting. “I wasn’t about to jointhatparty. If I’m going to have a threesome, it’s not going to be with another woman, it would be with Henry.” And she’s uncomfortable again.Wait?Who the hell was Henry?“I needed to get out of there.”

“Well, Carrie’s parents were inside and Sheila, Carrie’s mom, just about melted when I told them why you came over.”

“That’s sweet.”

“It is. I promise they won’t have any issues with you coming with me to pick up Nix.” I turned down the street leading to her little two-bedroom house.

“Fine. But if they hate me, I’m never coming out of hiding. Scratch that. I’ll punish you first and then go into hiding.”

“Kinky. What kind of punishment?” My brows bounced as I pulled into her driveway, throwing the truck in park.

Her lips twitched as she thought it over. “The kind that involves hot wax.”

“The fuck?” I instinctively cover my junk, thinking the worst. Fucking manscaping was bad enough. No one was going near my dick with wax.

She laughed, unbuckling her seatbelt. “Don’t worry, I won’t come after your jewels. Just your chest hair. 40-year-old virgin style.”

“You wouldn’t.”

She gave me a look that told me not to test her. “You better not be leading me into a lion’s den.” She waved a finger in my face.

“I would never, but I know you would hold your own, regardless.”

“That’s true.”

Haley turned to grab the door handle, ready to hop out when I thought of something. “One last thing.”

“What?”

“Who the fuck is Henry?”

A mischievous smile tugged at her lips. “My vibrator.” She winked and hopped out my truck before I could respond. I groaned as my head fell back against the leather headrest. My cock stiffened in my jeans as I thought about using that on her. Not that I would ever fucking call itHenry.

That shit would change fast.

“Fucking Donkey balls!”Haley stood just inside the open garage door. Water trickled out around our feet in a steady stream after the initial flood gate opened and soaked our shoes, socks and pants.

“What the hell?” I placed my hands on my hips, surveying the damage in the garage. It looked like water had filled up at least a few inches.

“Crap. Crap. Crap.” She rushed through the garage toward a door that led to her kitchen. A slow but steady stream seeped from under the door. Haley hesitated with her hand on the doorknob, eyes closed, bracing herself for the worst. Pushing the door open, another small wave of water rushed into the garage.

Haley hung her head, defeated, as she took a deep breath. I walked up behind her, placing a hand on the small of her back as we stared into the kitchen. There had to be four inches of water flooding the entire room, and if I had to guess, the rest of the house as well.

She was frozen in horror as I moved her out of the way and walked into her utility room to shut off the water valve. Rubbing a hand through my hair, I joined Haley in the living room. “I think a pipe burst in the utility closet.

“Fuck. What am I going to do now?” Her voice cracked as she rubbed a temple.

Digging my phone out of my pocket, I handed it to her. “Call your insurance company first, then I’m going to call Sheila and let them know we will be over a little later.”

Hales blew out a breath, shaking her head. “You don’t have to stay. Go get Nix. I’ll call you in a little bit.”
