Her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed a light shade of pink. “That’s not a fair assessment because I’m pregnant and trying to induce labor. I have sex every chance I can.”

“I thought it was because you were married to a hot cop.”

“That doesn’t hurt either.” She smirked.

“I don’t know why it didn’t work. I think I was just so shocked to see a girl answer his door. And he was pulling his shirt down over his head when he walked up behind her.”

Rylie grimaced. “So, it looked like they were in a compromising position.”

“Very.” I scrunched my nose.

“Who is she?” Stephanie asked.

“Apparently she’s Carrie’s cousin and was over with her parents to celebrate Nix’s birthday.”

“Why was he shirtless?” Rylie narrowed her eyes like she didn’t quite believe him which warmed my dark and twisty heart.

“Because Nix had just thrown up on him. She was sick that week.”

“Okay. I’m not fully on board yet,” Rylie said.

“What happened next?” Stephanie asked intrigued.

I smiled. “Gray arranged for him to meet us in Vegas because I did the adult thing and promptly ignored his every text and call for a week. We danced. Drank and woke up not remembering anything.”

Ry’s brows pinched. “Nothing?”

“Nope. I swear we both only had two drinks.” I held up my margarita before taking another sip. This was the first time I drank anything since our Vegas trip.

“That’s insane. Maybe someone drugged you.” Stephanie mumbled through a yawn, covering her mouth. “Sorry. I’m invested. I’m just tired.”

“There is something more insane.” I tossed back the rest of my drink as they stared wide-eyed.Nothing like liquid courage. “We got married.”

“What!” Stephanie sat up much faster than I would’ve expected, dumping her belly plate on the floor.

“Are you kidding me?” Rylie’s eyes bulged from her head.

Stephanie swiped some crumbs from her leg. “Are you staying married?”

“Does Mason know, and he didn’t tell me?” Rylie reached for her phone I’m sure to text him.

I shook my head. “I don’t think anyone knows but Gray.”

“Gray didn’t tell me?” Stephanie scowled.

“I think it was an unspoken agreement that he wouldn’t tell anyone,” I promised. Reaching up, I tightened my ponytail and told them about the morning we woke up and and the plane ride home. By the time I finished the story, they were both swooning messes with hearts in their eyes.

“I didn’t know Asher felt that way about you. He kept it under lock and key. I mean I got the feeling that he liked you, but love?Damn.” Rylie sighed. “You’re staying married, right?”

“For now.”

“What do you mean for now?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know. We just entered this new phase and honestly, I don’t know if it will work long term.”

“Why?” Stephanie asked genuinely confused.

“Yeah. He’s your penguin.” Rylie agreed.
