The man put the locked box on the table, reached to his key ring, and opened the box.

My heart pounded knowing that the box said my mother’s name, but not knowing anything else. I’d hoped like hell there wasn’t something sinister in it like her hair or something.

But my curiosity rode me hard, and I needed to know what was inside.

Hence, here we were. My heart about to leap from my chest, palms sweaty, and my guys with their hands on my back, reassuring. Comforting. Loving.

With the lid now opened, I leaned over to see what was inside as if it were a snake about ready to strike me. Hell, all I knew was it could.

“I will leave you alone now. Once you are finished, please come to my desk, and I’ll give you the appropriate keys.”

“Thanks,” I choked out, my breath catching. The bank guy left with a solid click of the door behind him.

I’d sat there not moving for apparently too long, and Raid asked, “Do you want me to?”

My head shook. “No.” Breathing in and out deeply, I began pulling things out. Papers, keys, money and the box. All I cared about was the box.

When my hands grasped the box, a warm blanket wrapped me up tight as if my mom was right here with me. A smile came to my lips remembering her. The good times. The happiness we had.

“Here it goes,” I told the men next to me. Always my support. Always strong.

Swiping my fingers over my mother’s name, my heart hurt from not having her here with me. For her death. For everything that she’d miss in my life.

I brushed the lonely tear that escaped. No matter how much time passed, when your mom dies it always feels like yesterday.

The box had a lid that slid off the top.

A gasp escaped my lips as the lights from the room made the inside sparkle.

“What is it?” Liam asked as I picked the object up and held it up to my men.

“My mom’s ring. She bought this when I was born and wore it every single day. I’d searched and searched for it after she’d died, but it was nowhere to be found. Yet, here it is.”

The ring was beautiful with a pear shaped diamond with aquamarine on either side. “The diamond is me and the aquamarines are my mom. Our birthstones. She always said it was because she’d always surround me. And I feel that so much right now.”

Tears rolled down my cheeks, but I didn’t stop them. Just let them roll as my guys put their arms around my shoulders and got really close, allowing their warmth to seep into me.

“It’s beautiful, Nyx,” Liam said, kissing the side of my temple.

“Yeah. She always told me that she’d pass it onto me one day, but that day never came.” My heart broke a bit more, but there was also happiness alongside it from finding her ring after all this time.

I felt movement to my sides and I really didn’t want them to leave me.

“Can I see it?” Raid asked, and I handed it to him.

Suddenly Raid and Liam dropped to their knees there in the vault at the bank.

“You’re the love of our lives,” Liam said as he reached over and held the ring, both of them together.

“Will you be our wife?” Raid asked, and my heart burst. I loved these men so much. They loved me and each other. The three of us. Together forever. What could be better?

“Absolutely.”

They smiled up at me and slipped the ring on my finger together.

Raid and Liam stood and wrapped me in their arms, and both kissed me hard.

Together for life.
