“He’s caught up over there.” Reece points.

She leans in closer. “Why is that woman looking at me funny?” Delaney murmurs.

“Reece said she wants to be your new bestie to get into Josh’s new film.”

She turns her head, her mouth falling open. “That’s not how it works. I have nothing to do with his business.”

I smirk. “We both know he’d do whatever you said, he’s so pussy-whipped. But I also know you wouldn’t try to influence him. Unless he was considering casting your old mate, Jessie.”

Delaney’s top lip curls. “Josh knows better than that.”

Nodding, I hook my arm through hers. “He really does. That’s how I know he’s the right guy for you.”

The smug expression that spreads across her face makes me laugh. She’s so confident in their love, and it even makes me a little giddy thinking about how deep that goes. It’s what I want with Reece.

Wait.

That’s what I have with Reece.

I wasn’t worried about him when I saw Sigourney talking to him. It was the way she hung off him that made me see red.

Turning my head, I meet Reece’s gaze. He tilts his head a little, his brows knitting as if to ask me what I’m thinking. Maybe we haven’t spent the last couple of years in the same country, but time and distance gave us the opportunity to get to know each other as friends. It’s acted as such a good foundation for our relationship.

“Love you,” I mouth.

He smiles that dazzling smile of his and shoots me a wink that makes me sigh.

“I’m so glad you two are together,” Delaney says. “Now I have you here, and my best friends are in love with each other. Things couldn’t have worked out better.”

I lean my head against hers. “I’m not sure what I’m doing here yet, but I guess we’ll work it out.”

“Sometimes, I think I should be jealous of Delaney,” Reece says.

Delaney leans over, summoning up her baby-talk voice. “Aww, poor wittle Reecey. Is he feeling left out?”

“I don’t know what you did, but you’re in trouble when she brings out that voice.” Josh chuckles as he approaches, placing his hands on his wife’s waist and scooping her against him.

“Breathing gets me in trouble.” Reece takes my hand and smiles. I’m not sure what the future holds, but I do know I want it to be with him.

“Let’s go to our table.” Josh plants a kiss on Delaney’s neck.

After we’ve eaten, there are a few speeches by the organisers, and then the music starts and so does the dancing. Josh pulls Delaney to the dance floor, and I snuggle against Reece in my seat.

“Did you want to get out of here?” he asks.

I place my palm on my throat. “Why, Mr Evans. Are you propositioning me?”

“I’m not even sure we’ll last the drive back to my place.” His whole face lights up in a smile, and my heart lurches. God, how I adore this man. “I still can’t believe you’re here. Aren’t you supposed to be studying?”

I bite my bottom lip. This is the one part of this whole thing I was dreading. I made such a big decision without telling the one person I should have.

His brow furrows. “Pania, what aren’t you telling me?”

“I quit.”

“What? I thought—”
