“I have to say, though, I hope I tasted better than you, cause…” Her voice trailed off as she shuddered. “I almost gagged.”

I stared at her before I burst out laughing. There was no doubt about it. I was in love.

Crawling off me, she reached for my hand. “Want to see if the bath water is still warm?”

Taking her offered hand, we walked into the bathroom. The water was warm, but it could stand to be hotter. I drained some of it, then added hot water. I held Kenzie’s hand as she carefully stepped into the tub and sank down.

“Oh, that feels good. I could soak in this tub for hours.”

I climbed in behind her and pulled her body against mine. We both remained silent and for a second, I thought she might have fallen asleep. But then she started to move her hand up and down my leg. I could feel my dick coming back to life.

“Already, huh?” she softly asked.

“I think you’re the problem.”

She laughed, and it rumbled through my entire body. Exhaling, she whispered, “I could stay like this forever.”

“In the tub?”

With an elbow in my stomach, she lifted her head up and back to look at me. “No, in your arms. It feels so right. I keep thinking to myself this must be a dream, right? How does a man walk into my life, turn it upside down in the most amazing way, then make me feel like I’ve known him for a thousand years? Or maybe it only feels like I’ve waited for you for that long.”

I kissed the top of her head and held her a little tighter, not wanting the moment to end. And it didn’t, for several long, quiet minutes. But when her stomach growled again, I knew it was time to feed her.

“Let’s get some food in you.”

She unplugged the drain and we both stood. I quickly grabbed one of the oversized towels and wrapped it around her body before doing the same. Mackenzie picked up our clothes and we made our way back into the bedroom and got dressed.

“Okay, let’s see what’s for lunch.”

Following me down the steps, she asked, “You don’t know what’s in the basket?”

“No clue, but my mother packed it, so I know we won’t be disappointed.”

We both sat at the table and I opened the basket and started to take everything out.

“I can’t believe how hungry I am.”

“Looks like Mom packed us some wraps. I hope you like them.”

Her eyes went wide. “The turkey wraps with the special mayo she makes?”

Glancing up at her, I nodded. “I take it she’s made them for you before?”

“She has! Your mom will often bring lunch by for me and Lou. Stella has before, as well. Her chicken salad is the bomb.”

“It is,” I agreed with a grin. “And look at this.”

When I set two pieces of apple pie on the table, we both laughed.

The rest of lunch was spent in simple conversation. We talked about our favorite movie genres—she hates action movies; I love them. Her favorite color is blue, while mine’s green. Her favorite book ever is Emma by Jane Austen. Fall is both our favorite time of year.

“If you could go to one place, anywhere, where would it be? And not Italy because you already told me about that.”

She looked up in thought. “Gosh, I don’t know. There are so many beautiful places I would love to see. Norway, maybe, to see the Northern Lights. Scotland to see the castles. London to see where Charles Dickens lived. Ireland, simply to visit an Irish pub.” She thought a few more seconds, then added. “Oh! And there’s this train ride that goes across Canada. You sit in these cars that have clear glass and you can see everything around you. Banff is one place I’d love to visit. Vancouver. It would be fun to go to Alaska and go fly fishing.”

I quirked a brow. “Do you fly fish?”

With a giggle, she shook her head. “I’ve never been fishing in my life, but it looks fun.”
