“Good.” She let him decide which route to take, but couldn’t help the satisfaction that bubbled through her when he headed south to highway twenty-one then along that. The country was pretty, but they’d passed all the sculptures, still she enjoyed the rumble of the bike beneath them and the peace of just the two of them and the road. The world seeming to speed by. It felt as if they were the only ones on earth, at least in that moment. At the very least they were the only two that mattered. She almost wished it could stay this way forever.

Almost.

“Want to go home or out for something sweet?” Caden asked as they approached Dickenson.

“I’ve got ice cream at home, want to come in and have some?”

“Sweetheart, if I come in, I’ll end up staying for a lot more than ice cream.” He didn’t know if she was up for another night, but he’d tossed clothes for work tomorrow into one of his saddle bags just in case. He believed in being prepared and he didn’t know what her work schedule was like.

“I was hoping you’d say that.” Her voice was a soft purr in his ear that made his jeans go tight.

He tried to shift a little to ease some of the constriction but failed. “Sweetheart, I swear you’re trying to kill me.”

“How?” She didn’t seem to know how she affected him.

“That sweet purr of yours in my ear, it makes me hard. I’m regretting these jeans about now.”

“Oh really?” Her hand moved against his belly.

Caden wondered what she was up to and didn’t realize what was going on until he felt the pop of the button on his jeans give way.

“You really are going to kill us like that.” He used one hand to bring hers back up around his belly, knowing it was only a matter of time until she’d be back at it.

He hoped they could make it to her house first.

Caden couldn’t help the grin on his face as they reached town and he worked his way through the streets, knowing they’d be at her place soon.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to try again?” Her fingers inched down, not really going for his jeans again, but reaching in that direction as she purred in his ear again.

His cock hardened and ached at the restriction of his jeans. He fought back the urge to growl. Not yet. That would only encourage her. Instead, he pulled up in front of her house and killed the engine.

“If you keep that up, we may not make it inside.”

Her hands dipped on his belly, teasing their way down to his open jeans. Caden clenched his teeth and tried to force himself to calm down. She deserved better than a frenzied rutting against the inside of her front door. The way she was going, he’d be lucky if he managed anything else.

After a moment she must have decided to have mercy and stop teasing him because her hand moved away and she climbed off the bike, putting her hands on his shoulders as she did. He missed her heat against him, but as soon as she was on the ground, he propped the bike onto the kickstand and stepped off himself.

In no time they had their helmets off and stowed and were headed for the door. He waited while she unlocked it. Looking up and down the street to distract himself from how badly he wanted his hands on her. To stop what she was doing and kiss her breathless.

She took his hand and tugged him inside. His mind was still reeling as she closed the door and pushed him back against it. He lifted his hands, wanting to tug her close and kiss her but before he had the chance, she’d pulled the edge of his shirt free from his jeans and slid her hands underneath, then moved close and stretched to kiss him.

It didn’t take Caden long to get into this. His hands buried in her hair, pulling it loose from the low pony she’d had it in and tangling his fingers in the thick tresses.

She groaned against his mouth pressing closer. One hand snaked below the waistband of his still unbuttoned jeans, making him jump as her hand closed around his length. It took everything he had not to lose himself in the moment. They made it to the bed, but just barely.

Olivia was busy at work the next day, but in the rare moment she didn’t seem to be running around, she found her mind drifting back to Caden. There were moments she would swear she’d felt his hands on her body or heard his voice in her ear. Then someone would speak to her, or a voice would make an announcement on the PA system in the store and the sensation would vanish as she went back to work.

She got off work at ten p.m. and headed home, grateful to be off her feet and looking forward to a hot shower. She didn’t mind work, and preferred the busier shifts because they passed faster but they left her sore and aching.

Still, on the drive home, her mind drifted once more to Caden. She wondered what he was doing and if he’d thought about her as much as she’d thought about him. She made it home, not quite sure how because she didn’t recall the drive. Still she was glad to be home.

Inside, she hung her purse up and headed for the bedroom. She kicked her shoes off next to the dresser then went in the bathroom and started the water in the tub and added bath salts to help her aching muscles before heading back to the bedroom and stripping out of her clothes. That’s when she remembered that she’d left her phone in her purse.

After retrieving her phone, she went back in the bathroom, pinned her hair on top of her head, shut off the tap and sank down into the steaming water, hissing through her teeth as the hot water hit her skin. It only took her a moment to get accustomed to it, lean back and relax, then reach for her phone.
