Whatever she has to do must be important, and I fully intend to find out what the hell it is.
Pulling out the drive from my back pocket, I call Alexei, resting the cell against my shoulder as I slowly pull the blade from my flesh.
Fuck. That hurts like a motherfucker.
Again. She missed anything important. She could have sliced my throat. She doesn’t want me dead.
I can’t stop this mission until I find out her motives.
That way, I can fall back out of love with her.
“You got her?” he says as it connects.
“No. I have something better. Bring the car around to the front gates.”
THIRTY-NINE

I don’t even know how I feel.
Terrified, turned on, and desperate to get all of this over with.
I’ll deal with whatever I have to, if I survive.
By the time I make it back to the hotel, Tyler is already there, pacing.
“What took you so long?” There’s a pile of cigarette butts in the ashtray in front of him.
“Someone looks like they’ve been stressing out.” I don’t want to let him know why I was delayed.
But, I do know we need to get the fuck out of here.
There’s a very real chance I was followed.
“Yeah, I am kind of freaking out. There’s a lot at stake, and you’re missing meet times. Why wouldn’t that bother me?” His voice climbs with each word.
“That isn’t helpful.” I head over to the closet and swing the double doors open where our weapons are stashed.
Dragging out one of the empty duffels, I start loading the long guns in first.
“This isn’t the plan.” Tyler lights another smoke and stands over me.
“They change, Ty. We have to move, he’s here.” My throwing knife collection goes in next.
He shifts his weight back and forth over his feet. “Who? Ivan?”
“No. Worse. Nikolai. I can’t fucking die before I get Daniil. And, I almost did tonight.” Killed me with orgasms.
But, the anger in his eyes was real. The hatred burned into me with a fire I hadn’t seen in him.
It makes me want him more, and scares the shit out of me.
“Wait. He’s here?” he squeaks. “I’m supposed to be the guy on the computer. Not the frontline. What the hell do we do?”
I toss another empty bag over my shoulder. “Put the ammo in there. Then call Tatiana. We need to do this, and fast.”
I lean back on my heels. “I’ll give you the drive to take to her. Tell her men that we need to go in tomorrow.” Pushing my hand down the front of my torn shirt, I slide my fingers beneath the fabric of my bra.
