He nods his head and says, “I’m going to show her then.”

“Good. She's worth it.”

Now that I'm done with my workout, I grab my shit to go and meet my girl. I walk over to where they’re standing, and damn, my dick got hard just looking at her. She’s showing my sister some hip thrusts; she has a booty band wrapped around her upper thigh and holding a ten-pound weight. She lifts her hips again, then she gets up and shows Autumn how to squat with the same things and that’s their superset.

“You might wanna wipe your mouth right there, I can see a little drool,” Talon says with a shit eating grin.

He’s looking over at the girls where Autumn is now doing her set. I look over to him and see his mouth is wide open.

I lift his chin up and say, “Close your mouth before you start catching flies.”

“Yeah, just like that. Keep your back straight. Now, let's do the hip thrust,” Montana says to my sister.

They both get on the floor and that fucker Dallas is staring at them again.

“Two more, and then we're done, girl.”

“Fuck, what I wouldn’t do to be helping her,” Dallas says.

“Say one more thing about my girl and you’ll be on the injured list this year. I. Fucking. Dare. You.” I'm pissed.

“I was actually talking about your sister; I think she’s beautiful. Get your head out the gutter, Savage, I’m a really good dude.”

“Baby, I’m yours, but you can't go around threatening people who look at me or your sister,” Montana says, when she walks up to us giggling.

“Don’t you know by now, Killer? I'm a savage for you.” I wink at her.

All I know is that I’m yours is ringing in my ears.

She’s mine.

It’s my birthday week. I’ve never had a girlfriend to celebrate with, so I’m elated at the thought that this year I have Montana. She told me she can’t wait to celebrate with me. We also have our first game of the season a couple days after my birthday.

Things with Montana have been going great. Getting to know her more and more, and I just can't fathom the fact that someone would deliberately hurt her—friend or boyfriend. In the short amount of time we’ve spent together I already know that she’s becoming my best friend.

I’m over at her place, we’re snuggled up on the couch with her head in my lap. I stroke her hair as we watch the movie playing on the TV. I love how she loves to touch me.

We continue to play twenty-one questions. My girl doesn’t like coffee. She literally scrunched her nose up when I asked, “How do you like your coffee?” She replied that she hates it and says it tastes burnt. I asked why she has a Keurig and she said she likes vanilla hot cocoa in the winter and hot apple cider. This girl.

“Have you ever been in love, Savage?” Pulling me out of my daze, her question catches me off guard.

“No, I don't think I have,” I say truthfully.

“How do you know?”

“I thought I was once. She was nice in front of people. I guess I was just blind.”

“I'm sorry, but that’s her loss.”

“Are you still in love your ex-boyfriend?”

I’m not scared of her answer because I know she was with her ex for four years, but I guess I’m hoping she isn’t still in love with him.

“Honestly? No. When I met you, you changed my view on what I thought love was. Let me explain before you go and think I’m all in love with you already.” She laughs and playfully rolls her eyes. “My dad always showed me what love is, and I think that I stayed with Dylan longer than I needed to. I think I wanted him to be the one for me, even though I knew deep down he wasn't. I overlooked everything he didn’t do. Dylan never did anything for me the way you have in this little time we have been with each other. I mean, he cheated on me in my time of need. That isn’t love. Things weren’t always bad, but I shouldn’t have always had to fight for his attention. I shouldn’t have sat in my room alone, crying when my parents had just died. He could have dropped his friends to be with me, but he never did.”
