Eventually, though, they had to breathe. He rested his forehead on hers. “Do you want to fool around, Counselor?”
“You asking me out, Evan?”
“Evil.”
“What’s evil?”
“I am,” he said, and pushed her against the wall.
The hard press of his erection left no doubt what he wanted. “I wouldn’t say evil,” Lucy laughed. “More like naughty.”
Evan pulled her hair out of the bun she had it in and stroked his fingers through it. “A little boy who shakes the wrapped boxes under the Christmas tree is naughty. I want to open you up like a Christmas present.”
God, that’s hot.
“Are you looking for something long-term or just for tonight?” Lucy asked Evan as his lower body rocked into hers.
“Let’s start with just tonight.” The smile he gave her made her panties even wetter.
“Evan,” she said, trembling, as he traced the swell of her breast with his fingers, “that’s a little fast for me. But I wouldn’t mind dating you now that we won’t be meeting in a courtroom anymore.”
“I don’t want to date. I want to fuck.”
Lucy’s knees almost gave out. Her fingers grasped his towel as he kissed down her chest. Part of her wanted to let him have his way with her. This side of Evan was irresistible. She grabbed his hair and tugged his head up. Evan responded by jamming his knee between hers, spreading her legs.
“So you just want a fuck toy for your amusement?”
He smiled. “If you want. I could get into that.”
Lucy shoved him, but he didn’t move. “I don’t.”
“What do you want, Counselor? As much as I’d like to believe you came up here to ride my dick, I’m pretty sure you were sent up here as a joke by the morons downstairs.”
“I told you why I came up here. You’re the one who got all grabby.”
“I don’t see you complaining. So did the jerk-offs do us a favor?”
Evan’s question made Lucy feel shy. They’d never even shared a cup of coffee, and here she was letting him run his hands all over her. If he’d still been a cop, she’d have knocked his block off for taking liberties. Why was it different now that he was no longer Detective Villiers and instead Evil, the scruffy-looking bar owner? “I’d like a relationship.” She took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh. It was a big deal for her to be making out with a half-naked, hot dude she used to work with. “But there’s some give-and-take.” Lucy had crossed her arms over her chest. “We go out to dinner. Maybe a movie. If we’re compatible, then we take it from there.”
“Compatible?” Evan snorted. “I’m about to come in my towel just from kissing you.”
The feeling was definitely mutual.
Their conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door. “Evil, you up for a visitor?” a man’s voice said. “I’ve got a redhead with tits the size of watermelons who’s lookin’ to make your acquaintance.”
“Fuck off,” Evan snarled. “I’m busy.”
“Your loss.”
Pissed off, Lucy said dryly, “So there really is a line forming up?”
Evan grasped her wrists, uncrossed her arms, and held them over her head. It lifted her breasts high enough that her nipples strained against her bra.
Shit, he’s potent.
“I’m not going to be your one-night stand,” Lucy warned, trying to stay focused. It was hard, given how little distance there was between them right now. “I just came up here to say goodbye and good luck.”
“Goodbye?” Evan kissed her again, easing his hips between her thighs. “You don’t get away from me that easy.” The towel did nothing to hide his arousal. He kissed her again, taking his time.
