“Mostly just exposure to the elements and cuts and bruises. But I also get a lot of stomach issues and hangovers.” She gave a lovely laugh and batted her eyelashes at Josh.

“Any gunshot wounds?”

“A few. Mostly grazes from not paying attention to their surroundings and walking into a shot pattern. Some stitches and they’re good as new. Nothing major. Certainly no deaths.”

“I bet you’ve seen some pretty wild things,” Josh said.

“You know it.” Leslie giggled.

Ashley would have liked to wallop him one, but since they weren’t really filming this she let it go because she was responding a lot better to Josh. Go figure.

“Mr. Reynolds was telling us about the hazing. That sounds like a riot. Anyone ever get really hurt?”

“Oh, those scamps,” she said, her eyes twinkling. “No. Just pissed-off feelings. Most everyone here can swim, so it’s just getting all their clothes and their sleeping bag wet.”

“Isn’t it dangerous, a beautiful woman like yourself being here all alone with all these men?” he asked.

This time Leslie gave him a wide smile. “No. Everyone is a perfect gentleman.”

Ashley’s eyes narrowed. That didn’t make sense. In this den of testosterone, she would imagine someone would have made up an excuse to get frisky with the nurse, especially when it looked like she bought her outfit at Frederick’s of Hollywood.

“Do the other nurses have any trouble?”

Leslie shook her head. “No trouble at all.”

Wait, how did he know there was more than one nurse? Sure, Leslie couldn’t be here 24/7, but there weren’t any duty sheets up.

“That’s good to know. And do you guys provide individual care if someone needs around-the-clock nursing?”

Leslie showed her dimples. “Sometimes. But like I said, mostly it’s just bumps and bruises.”

“I understand.” He gave Leslie an appreciative glance.

So much for wanting a relationship to be exclusive. She was willing to give him a chance to explain, but if it was just him being more of a dick, this so-called relationship was over before it started.

Josh put the camera away. “I’m just about out of battery. Thanks for your time.”

“Anytime. I’m here on the weekends mostly. But the other nurses know how to reach me.”

“Excellent.” He leaned over to shake her hand. Still holding it, he rubbed his thumb across her knuckles.

Fuck this. Ashley got up. “I’ll be outside,” she said, and stormed out. However, she didn’t slam the door. She kept it open a crack so she could listen in.

“Leslie, I was thinking of joining the hunting club.”

“I figured,” she purred.

“My brother-in-law recommended it to me and when I saw we were going to do a feature on the club, I jumped at the chance.”

“Who’s your brother-in-law?”

“Stan? He’s good friends with Bobby and Craig.”

“Oh yeah. I know Stan,” she said with a chuckle. “I haven’t seen him for a few months, but he helped me buy a new car.”

“That was nice of him.”

“Well, Bobby and Craig helped too. Although Dina was their regular nurse. I helped out on group activities though.”
