“But what?”

“His arms and legs are gone. I can see that he had an enhanced leg, but the others look like they were cut off with a blunt blade. It's bad, Iron. He was screaming and begging to die. We need to do something.”

Tope came to her side, rubbing his head over Amy’s arm as a deep, dangerous snarl came from him.

“What else did you see?” Cole asked, brushing back a strand of her hair and tucking it behind her ear.

“There’s about twenty of those asshole aliens that took me from my planet sitting around the water,” She sniffed, wiping at her cheeks, “I found Ice and three others on the right side, in that small building on the end. They all look weak. Ice was…”

She paused, looking up at Iron. He took in a long breath, closing his eyes for a moment, then said, “Tell me.”

“She was beaten up pretty bad. One of your warriors is with her, trying to help her, but it didn’t look good. The other two are in a separate cage in the same room. One of them looks different to you. I didn’t see any enhancements on him, but it was like he could see me as I moved through the room. He didn’t say anything, but he kept his eyes glued to me the whole time.

“Dio,” Cole said, a small, relieved grin flashing over his furious face.

Cane nodded, “Yes.”

“On the other side of the settlement I saw four aliens inside a small house. They had a map of the city laid out. The compound was circled, as were a few other buildings. It sounded like they were planning some kind of attack.”

“You said they are the same aliens that took you. The Koroks?”

She nodded, “Yes, but there are two others with the four in the house. One of them was really tall, much taller than you, and skinny. He had dark pink skin that looked see through.”

“Grom!” Iron growled, curling his lip at the name.

“What about the other one?”

“It was one of those four legged ones that walked with the convoy I was in.”

“Desert pirate. What the Trak are they all doing together in the desert?”

Iron straightened, his eyes blazing with a glowing red fire that spoke of the anger he was trying to control.

“I don’t care. We kill them all.”

Cane nodded, seeing his brother doing the same.

“Amy, you need to stay here and wait for us to come back-”

“No chance, Cane! I can help. I can get in without being seen and get the others out while you take care of the asshole that hurt your people. There is no way the three of you can go up against all of them alone. You need us, you know that.”

Cane growled, shooting his brother a look for him to help convince her to stay safe.

“She’s right, Cane,” Cole said, running his hand through his hair, “You saw what she can do. We need the beasts to help as well. We can't take them all alone.”

“I know!” Cane roared, shutting his eyes at the anger that burned inside him. He needed to get control of his rising rage. He didn’t want Amy to see him like this again, not after it had scared her the last time.

When he felt her turn in his arms, he opened his eyes and looked into her stunning gaze.

She placed a hand on his cheek, rising to give him a soft kiss. “It will be okay, Cane. I won’t do anything stupid; I promise.”

As he stared into her eyes, he could feel his anger fading away under her soft touch. He closed his eyes, lowering his head to her forehead and sighed, “I need to protect you. We need to protect you.”

“And I need to protect you. You are both mine in the same way I am yours. Focus on what you need to do. I have my own enhancements to fight with.”

He nodded, placing a soft kiss to her forehead as he met Cole’s eyes over her head. He released her and turned her to face Cole.

She wrapped her arms around his brother's neck, placing a kiss to his lips.
