“You stay safe, Sila, you hear me. You get our people out and get back here. We will deal with the fighting.”
She nodded, “I will. Once I have them out, I will send Emi and Tope to help you finish the rest off.”
After another brief kiss, Cole let her go and they both watched as the thick black suit morphed around her body again, covering her from head to toe in a shimmering scale like body armor. A moment later, she blinked out of sight.
“Ready?” she asked.
“Yes,” Iron said, extending the long, electrified blade from his arm.
Cane and Cole did the same, waiting for it to heat up, before they climbed back up the dune and moved towards the settlement.
Chapter Eighteen
Amy moved fast over the sand, Maku and Kisma giving her extra speed and strength. Emi and Tope had circled around to stay out of sight and would join her at the building she found Ice and the others in.
Glancing over her shoulder, she saw Cane, Cole, and Iron moving fast towards the main part of the settlement.
“Please be okay,” She whispered as panic surged inside her at the memory of how badly hurt Cole had been only hours ago. Pushing back the fear that threatened to make her unfocused, she ran up to the building and paused against the wall, listening to the sounds of the aliens talking and joking.
Bile rose in her throat when she heard them mocking the two males that were butchered and put on display in the center of the settlement.
Her own anger felt like someone had thrown a petrol bomb onto it when Maku and Kisma amplified it with their own feelings. Even Emi and Tope joined in, making her whole body shake with adrenaline.
When the first sounds of a fight reached her, Amy eased off the wall and ran for the door to the prison. Glancing over to make sure no one would see the door open, she crept in and shut it behind her.
Narrowed, glowing yellow eyes rose to stare right at her.
She inched closer to the cage, “Dio?” She whispered.
He frowned, “Who are you?” His deep, raspy voice asked, making the other warriors look up.
She sent out a thought to Kisma to let her be seen and watched as all the males growled and shot to their feet.
“It’s okay,” She said, raising her hands at her side, “I’m here to get you out. I’m with Iron, Cane and Cole. They are here as well. Please be quiet.”
“Iron?” A weak, pained voice asked from a filthy cot in the other cell. Amy rushed over to the bars and bent to her knees beside Ice.
“Yes. Iron is here for you, Ice. He came to find you. Just hang on. I’m going to get you out.”
The warrior that was in the cell with Ice stepped closer, bending to talk quietly to her.
“We cannot get the bars open. Not even our enhanced strength can bend them. How do you plan on getting us out if the combined strength of four enhanced warriors cannot so much as bend a single bar?”
She rose to her feet, allowing the mask over her face to move away and gave him a sweet smile.
“Because, big guy, sometimes the smallest thing can be the strongest weapon,” she said and raised a taloned finger up in front of her. All the warriors watched with wide eyes as the tip of her finger extended, the black suit morphing into the shape of a long, strange looking key. She slipped it into the lock and winked at him when it clicked open.
The warrior raised a brow and smiled, nodding at her.
“You said you are here with Cane and Cole?”
She nodded, “Yes. And Iron.”
“Tell me little female, do you have a mate? If not, I would be willing to consider it.”
She chuckled, raising her wrists, and allowing Kisma to show them all Cane and Cole’s markings.
Wide, shocked eyes gawked at her when they realized what she was showing them.
