Page 55 of Twin Warriors
“You are the twins mate?”
She nodded, “Yip. And I don’t think my mates would be too happy to hear you trying to steal me away from them.”
He chuckled, “No, I do not believe so.”
Her smile fell, her mask moving back over her face, “We need to go.”
The warrior in the cell with Ice gently lifted her into his arms, the pained moan that escaped her making Amy’s heart clench.
She paused by the door to look back at the three towering warriors all watching her.
“Try not to freak out when we step out.”
They all frowned at her, “Freak out?” Dio asked, raising a brow.
She shook her head, “Just… Follow me.”
She eased open the door to peek out. Most of the men that had been sitting around the pool of water were laying in thick puddles of blood, their lifeless eyes staring at nothing.
She pushed open the door, not feeling sorry for them one bit, and led them around the building and out of sight. When they were all pressed to the wall, she called for Emi and Tope and watched as they came sprinting over the sand towards them.
“Night beasts!” Dio growled, tensing to fight.
“No!” Amy called, stepping forward to block the male from attacking, “It’s okay, they’re with me.”
Emi came up to her, giving her a quick rub on the chest, before looking up to stare into the eyes of the men. Tope stood by the wall, staring out at the main part of the settlement.
“Go with them,” Amy said, turning to look at the man holding Ice, “they will take you to our meeting place.”
The man frowned at her, his eyes wide as Amy stroked Emi on the neck.
“Female, these are night beasts.”
“Yes, they are, and they are going to keep you safe while you get your asses back to the meeting point.”
He tilted his head to the side for a moment, then asked, “What are you going to do?”
She swallowed, “There is still one more warrior I need to save.”
All the men exchanged a knowing look, before they nodded.
“I will go with you,” Dio said, moving to stand beside her.
“No, you need to go and stay safe. I’ll be fine.”
“Female, you cannot fight alone. You are too small, too weak-”
Amy vanished from his sight, making him take a step back.
“I’m also invisible and have an indestructible body suit that can morph any weapon I need. What do you have?”
The other men grunted a laugh, before one of the other males stepped forward and pulled Dio back.
“Let the female do what she needs to do. We need to care for Ice. She needs us.”
Dio glared at Amy for a moment, then nodded.
She turned to Emi and gave her one last stroke, before the beast turned and led them up the dunes and back to where they would meet the others.
