Page 4 of Sinful Brothers
What!?
Once the last person is out, the door is closed behind them and now I feel like a lamb amongst two, fierce lions.
Silence screams around the large meeting room and I am unsure whether I am to sit or stand; talk or stay silent.
“We want you for the Simmons account.”
Theodore looks at his brother for just a moment before his eyes are on mine.
“Really?” and the shock is evident in my voice, I knew I deserved the account, but I truly didn’t think I would get it.
Lucas’ lips twitch into what looks like a smile but I can’t be sure because I don’t think I have ever seen an ounce of movement on that man’s face.
“Really.” Theodore gives a nod and I smile.
“Thank you, I have worked so hard on this account, I promise you will not be disappointed.”
“Oh, we’re counting on it,” Lucas says in his deep gravelly voice that melts you on the spot, and for some reason, the way their eyes are locked on me, the way their voices sound like silk wrapping around me tightly makes my stomach flip.
Holding my laptop and files close to my chest, I ignore the way my heart is racing behind my ribcage.
“We will be here tomorrow, but please block out your calendar from four onwards as we have a meeting.”
“Right, okay,” I nod a few times, my tongue feels like it is swelling in my mouth.
“Don’t be late Taylor,” and the way my name sounds coming off of Theodore’s tongue has my thighs clenching.
My cheeks burn red, and I try and hide myself by dropping my head forward.
“Wear the pearls,” Lucas orders softly as I go to see myself out the meeting room. “See you tomorrow.”
Words fail me, so I smile—at least I think I do—and walk out of the room and to my desk, and only when I am sat, do I inhale heavily and hold my breath.
What the fuck just happened.
CHAPTER THREE
TAYLOR
Ducking into Cake & Roses, I seek out our table. Everyone is already here. Books in hand, cocktails on the table alongside freshly baked muffins.
“What. A. Day,” I sigh, slumping into the chair next to Bella who gives me a gentle pat on the shoulder.
“That bad huh?” Lily asks, glasses pushed onto her head, her ashy blonde hair blown out.
“Just chaotic,” my brows furrow, “I got the Pearl account though.”
“No way!! Well done doll, knew you would smash it,” Hallie chimes as she does small claps.
“Thank you.”
“Amazing news, you deserve this account so much. I hope the twat twins were grateful for all your hard work,” Harper’s brow curls as she takes her seat after shutting down the bakery.
“Er, I wouldn’t say grateful…” I twist my finger in my hair. “But I do have a meeting with them tomorrow evening,” I snort.
“Tomorrow evening?” Flora repeats as she appears from the restroom, “Sorry what have I missed?” she smiles, sitting next to Lily.
“I got the Simmons account.”
