“Oh my god! Amazing news Taylor, congratulations hon!”

Glasses are lifted as we chime them together.

“But yeah, not sure what that is about, but guess I’ll find out tomorrow!”

“So… anyone else met me at chapter fourteen yet!?” Hallie wiggles her eyebrows as we fall into conversation about our book.

The evening was wonderful as always, but I am glad to be home and back in my apartment.

Peeling my clothes off me, I discard them into the hamper and pad towards the bathroom. Twisting the shower on full, I wait a moment for the hot water to kick in but it doesn’t come. Turning the water off again, I wrap myself in a warm towel and grab my phone.

It’s past ten.

I needed to shower the day off me and wash my hair.

Looking back at the time, then to my calendar I think. I could get into work early tomorrow and shower before anyone was there. I was close to work. Closer to work than any of the girls’ places and I didn’t have the energy to trope across town for a shower.

Then, I could sort a plumber to come and see what the problem is.

More money on this shitty apartment.

I needed to go to bed.

I was done with this day.

Trudging through to my bedroom, I grab my pyjamas from the foot of the bed, pop my phone on charge and fall into my pillows.

My alarm screams and I reluctantly pull myself from my bed. It’s five a.m. Far too early, but I need to shower. Packing my work clothes into a duffle, I slip into yoga leggings and a vest. Pulling my hair into a high pony, I grab my make-up bag, phone and keys.

The taxi ride is short and smooth. Hardly any traffic due to the early hour and it’s nice to see a slightly quieter London.

Paying my fare, I slip out of the taxi and let myself through with my card. I’m not the first in the building, some are early risers, but for my team and my floor, I’m sure I will be the first. Riding the lift up to the tenth floor, I let myself into the offices and move quickly towards the bathroom and slip into the changing room.

We also have a gym which is connected to the changing room; not that I have ever been in there, but I’ve heard it’s real fancy.

Dropping my bag to the floor, I turn the shower on and smile when I see the steam already filling the room.

Large rainfall heads, double cubicle.

Wasted showers for an office block in my opinion. My shower at home is tiny with a shower curtain that sticks to my skin as I wash.

Kicking off my trainers, I take my clothes out and hang them up behind the door before stripping down and folding my outfit into the bag. Rooting for my toiletries, I place them in the shower tray and hang my towel on the hook just outside the shower.

Tugging the band from my long brown hair, I let it fall as I step under the shower and my mind instantly chills the fuck out as the hot water lashes against my skin.

Lathering soap into my hands, I smother my body then wash my hair with peach shampoo. Nothing beats a good shower in the morning.

I freeze when I hear footsteps approaching and the faint sound of music playing through earphones.

“Hello?” the gruff voice echoes around the shower room and I press myself up against the tiled wall.

Shit.

The sound of shoes hitting the floor pick up again and I know whose voice it is. Well, it’s one of two handsome brothers.

My chest rises and falls, my heart is in my mouth and I can’t close my eyes even if I wanted to.

The shower curtain is pulled back and dark emerald eyes land on my ocean blues before they sweep down my body.
