“I’ve seen a couple Asians there,” Piston says with a glance at Scorch. “When I picked up the week’s take.”

“You certain they were Asians?” I ask.

“Yeah, saw them getting out of a black SUV. Heard them speaking Chinese. At least I think it was Chinese.”

“Gang members?” I ask.

Piston shrugs. “Maybe. They were all wearing black, and some had tattoos.”

“Let’s talk to Sammy,” Chrome says, dismissing Church.

My eyes immediately go to Min as I stride toward her. However, when I realize who she’s talking with, my steps falter. Fucking Lydia. Why is she here? I glance at Scorch, who smirks at me. Fucker.

“Babe! I didn’t know you were here,” squeals Lydia as she steps away from Min and makes a beeline for me. “Haven’t seen you in too long, baby. How about we find ourselves a room?”

I pry Lydia’s arms off me as I search for Min. But she’s no longer at the bar. I see the back of her head as the clubhouse door shuts behind her. Well, fuck.

CHAPTER SIX: MIN

I sip the beer the prospect handed me. The cold liquid doing very little to cool me down. Riding on the back of Babe’s bike has lit an unwelcome fire in me. I have a hard enough time resisting Babe without the added intensity of being wrapped around his body? Fuck me. I almost came just from that. Glancing around the room, I search for a distraction, but find nothing. Taking out my phone, I call my dad. Talking to him will keep my mind off the feel of Babe’s hard body between my legs.

“Min? Did you get your man and make it back to San Diego safely?” He asks me. While my dad has been supportive of my decision to become a bounty hunter, my mother hasn’t. So, I know him asking is more for her sake than his. He knows I can take care of myself.

“Yes, and no. Got the skip and brought him back to San Diego. But Babe and I are in Chicago. We’re chasing the man who burned down the dojo. He helped three men escape prison.”

“I heard about that. Will the two of you be able to handle four men?”

“We’re not doing it on our own. The Demon Dawgs have a Chapter in Chicago. They’ll help.”

“That’s good. When you get back, come for dinner. Bring Babe with you. Your mother and I would like to meet him.”

“We’re not a couple,” I remind him for probably the tenth time.

“No. You’re partners. We want to meet your partner. That’s all.”

“Uh huh,” I reply with a grin. My father is not subtle about his desire to see me settled with a husband. Even a biker. But then he knows Ghost is a good man and likely believes all the Demon Dawgs are. I won’t spoil that belief by sharing my misgivings about the Chicago Chapter.

After ending the call, I return to my seat. Since there is no sign of Babe yet, I engage the prospect in a conversation.

“What’s your name?”

“Sammy,” he says with a grimace before correcting himself. “Sam. Trying to forget the name Sammy. It’s what my parents always called me.”

“Have a falling out with them?” I ask.

“You could say that,” he says with some bitterness. “My parents are not good people. They pretend to be, but they’re not. The cops arrested them for child endangerment.”

“They endangered you?”

“No, my little sister. Fuckers. They took my fourteen-year-old sister to the priest in our parish and left her alone with him. He tried to rape her. I was coming to meet them and heard her crying out. They were right outside the door. I know they could hear her begging for help. I busted through the door and stopped them. Called the cops and kept my parents from taking her.”

I slowly lower the bottle from my lips as I stare at the young man in front of me. He wipes a lone tear from under his eye before turning away.

“You saved her. You’re a fucking hero,” I tell him.

“I guess. Don’t feel like much of a hero. I lost everything.”

“How did you end up here?”
