"King!" Malloy shouted.

King chuckled again, out loud this time. He was apparently enjoying the show. "Okay, enough, both of you. We are here to discuss something serious. Someone really is trying to kill Spencer. They took a shot at him in full view of the public."

"More than one," I said in a more serious tone. I held up my bandage wrapped hands. "I got this from shattered window glass when they took the first shot at me." I pointed to the small cut on my cheek. "This was one they shot at me while I was running and hit the wall next to my face."

King instantly surged to his feet and came around the large mahogany desk, grabbing both my wrists. "Why didn't you tell me you were hurt?"

I cocked an eyebrow. "I'd ask you why you didn't notice when I got into the car, but I'm pretty sure you were too busy kissing me to notice."

I so wanted to smirk at the slight choking sound I heard from Malloy, but I was too busy taking in the heat that suddenly filled King's deep emerald-green eyes.

This man was truly breathtaking.

"Find me a first aid kit, Malloy."

I tried to pull my hands away from King, but he wasn't letting go. "I'm fine, King. I promise," I tried to assure him. "I already cleaned them and wrapped them."

"You might need a tetanus shot."

My eyebrows lifted. "From glass?"

"It couldn't hurt."

Yeah, I wasn't a fan.

"I don't do needles," I insisted. One bad experience with a dentist and you're scarred for life. When King raised an eyebrow as if challenging me, I growled out, "I'd rather eat shoe leather."

A shoe was suddenly waved in my face by Malloy. "That can be arranged."

Oh, I could see that Malloy and I were going to get along real well.

"Can I go now?" I asked. "I need to get to the train station."

"No," King said simply as if his word was law and I was bound to follow it.

I stared at King with my jaw hanging down around my chest as he released my hands and walked back around his desk to sit down. He clasped his hands together and rested them in his lap. It was a casual look, but there didn't seem to be anything casual about him in that moment.

"Someone is trying to kill you."

"I am aware of that." It was kind of hard to miss when bullets were whizzing past my head. I just wasn't sure what that had to do with me going to the train station.

"You are staying."

My eyebrows snapped together as I scowled at the taller man. "King, you can't—"

"Malloy, give us the room."

The man took one look at us and bolted for the door.

I cock a challenging eyebrow.

"You are staying, Spencer."

I snorted as I crossed my arms. "Make me."

My eyebrows shot up as I watched King get up, walk over, and lock the study door. I could feel the heat of King's lust licking up the edges of my body.

"This would work out a whole lot better if you were naked," King stated as he moved behind his desk again.
