A lot of outraged voices rang in my ears as I was hugged by one very big breasted woman while the others created a wall in front of me.

"Be careful," I warned. "The woman has a gun and a knife."

"So do I, honey," one of the women said as she dug into her pink sparkly unicorn purse. "Candy, take—"

"Spencer," I supplied when she glanced at me.

"Take Spencer back to your place. We'll be there just as soon as we deal with these assholes."

I almost thought I was being kidnapped again when the lady with the big bosom started tugging me down the street. We hurried around the corner and then half the way down the block before Candy led me to a door that went to one of the faded brick apartment buildings.

I was taken up to the third floor to a one-bedroom apartment, the door closed and locked behind us. It was a surprisingly clean and neat apartment for this neighborhood. I could tell that the place had seen better days, but Candy had placed rugs and tablecloths here and there to cheer it up a bit and hide the disrepair.

"Thank you for this."

"Oh, honey, don't worry about it. Me and the girls understand what it's like to be forced to do something you don't want to do. We would never wish that on someone else, especially someone as cute as you."

"You guys won't get into trouble for this, will you?" Pimps were a thing. Pimps that got angry because their girls didn't earn them enough money were a bad thing.

"As long as we turn in our quota by the end of the night, Eddie won't care."

I'd have to remember that name and give it to King, maybe have him look into how this Eddie guy treated his workers.

I didn't have any cash on me that I could give her to appease Eddie, but... "Can I use your phone?" I had no idea where mine was. "I can get you enough money that you won't have to work for a few days."

Candy's eyes rounded. "You got money, Honey?"

I wasn't going to admit that I did. Street walkers may be willing to save someone in distress, but they were also willing to bleed someone dry if they thought it would get them off the streets for a little while.

"I have a friend that might be able to help me out."

Candy handed me her phone. I dialed King's number and then walked over to pull the edge of the curtain aside so I could look down at the street. Everything seemed normal. The girls had gone back to standing on the street corner and I couldn't see any of the people that had been chasing me.

"Who is this?" King shouted.

"The queen."

"Spencer?" he asked in a much softer tone.

"Yes."

"Where the hell are you?" he asked. "You were supposed to be in the safe room."

"I never made it. That bitch from the club that was wearing the red sequined dress was waiting for me. She took out Boden and then had two goons grab me." I swallowed tightly. "Is Boden...?"

I couldn't say it.

"He's fine. She hit him with a tazer. He's already back on his feet although he has a doozy of a headache."

That explained why there was no blood when he went down.

"Do you think you could come get me?"

"Where are you?"

I turned to look at Candy, who seemed very interested in my conversation. "Can you give me the address to here?"

Candy rattled off her address, which I repeated to King. "Bring some cash with you, lots of cash. Some working ladies saved me, and they need to be compensated so that they don't get into trouble with their pimp."
