Kip grinned, trying to cover the man’s abrupt exit. “How’s the podcast going? Kevin listened to your latest episode and said it was great. Said you were pulling in Matt Crawford of Peachtree Pictures. He’s here tonight.” His smile was sly.

Cami could feel Madison’s gaze. “Yes, I spoke with him.”

James’s fingers tightened on her waist.

“We didn’t intend to have someone so high profile involved. We simply follow the evidence, but our listeners seem to like it. Which is good for both of us.”

“The numbers are very encouraging,” Madison said. “This last episode already has over a million downloads, and that’s just in the first couple of days.”

“And our social media engagement has been incredible,” Cami added, but Kip’s eyes were already roaming the crowd beyond them.

Madison added, “We are hoping the police will do a more extensive familial DNA search.”

Cami’s cheeks flushed. Normally, she would have texted Madison immediately with Detective Barlow’s news, but she’d been too busy having an orgasm in the front seat of a car. She didn’t dare look at James.

“I did one of those,” Kip said. “The little swab thingy. Kevin gave them to everybody for Christmas last year. He saw it on one of those crime shows on TV. I guess I better not leave any DNA next time.”

Cami and Madison dutifully gave a weak laugh at the bad joke, but James stayed rigid.

“Don’t want to keep my fans waiting.” He sent one last disappointed look Madison’s way before wandering away.

Madison visibly deflated once he was gone.

“Madison, I’m happy to finally meet you.” James smiled at her.

“Don’t believe half of what Cam says. She has a terrible habit of only seeing the best in people.” Her friend’s eyes held an unspoken warning, and James inclined his head. “Are you okay if I head out?” Madison’s gaze met Cami’s before lowering her eyes pointedly to where James still held her around the waist.

“I think we are probably leaving soon, too. Did you drive?”

“I parked around the block. I didn’t want to waste money on an Uber all the way into the city or on the valet.”

James’s brows met. “We’ll walk you to your car. If you’re ready to go?” He looked questioningly at Cami.

After saying goodbye to Madison at her Honda, James kept his hand looped around her waist until he opened the door for her.

“Are you hungry?”

“Starving,” Cami laughed. “For a restaurant, they were seriously lacking in actual food. There’s a fantastic pizza place near my house, if that’s not too plebeian for you.”

“You have an interesting picture of the life you think I lead.”

“Billionaire’s son lives in a luxury hotel.” She ran her hands over the leather dash. “Luxury car… I’m seeing a pattern.”

He chuckled. “Guilty.”

James eyed the small pizza place in a strip mall dubiously.

“We’re a little overdressed.”

“No one cares what we’re wearing.”

However, when they opened the door, a woman gave them a polite smile. “I’m sorry the dining room is closed for the night. Would you like a pizza to take with you? The kitchen is getting ready to close.”

Cami wasn’t ready for the evening to end, and she was very much interested in James’s promise of ‘later.’

“Can we get a large white pizza, please?”

James lifted his eyebrows at her when the woman disappeared through a swinging door.
