“We have to stop.”
“No.”
Her hips rolled again, and he tightened his grip, lifting her even as his body screamed at him. His thumb tipped her chin up, and her glazed eyes met his. “We can’t.”
“James,” she moaned. “I don’t care about the stupid agreem?—"
“I forgot about the cameras,” he whispered. It was all he could manage in that moment, with a raging erection and her warm, willing body on his lap.
That got her attention. Cami jumped back her eyes wide.
“Oh my god.”
James didn’t realize it was possible for a person to turn that shade of red. “Don’t worry. I’ll tell Brady to erase them. He won’t watch. Not if he wants to live.”
Cami leaned her forehead against his chest and huffed a little laugh. James had worried she would cry, freak out, rage at him for taking advantage. He should have known better. This was Cami. She’d find some way to see the humor in it.
Cami came to her feet and gave a little wave to each corner of the gym.
“Let me walk you to your car.”
James flipped off the lights and locked the door. His body ached, but he was also angry at himself. He’d gotten carried away. Cami was gorgeous and sexy and smart… and his fake girlfriend. He didn’t do relationships, and he even if he did… It could never be with her. Not after what happened.
She paused in the open door of her car. “James?—”
“I’m sorry.” He shoved his hand back through his hair. “I lost control. You said from the beginning you didn’t want physical contact if it wasn’t necessary, and I violated the contract.”
“Our contract? Are you being serious?”
James stiffened. “We put it in writing for a reason. It’s important we stick to it so that there are no misunderstandings. That we both understand what happens after the month is over.”
Cami exhaled hard through her nose and slammed her car door. James waited, thinking she would roll down her window to continue the conversation. Surely, Cami saw he was just trying to abide by their agreement. Do the right thing. Already the lines between what was real and fake were blurring.
The parking lot lights illuminated her through the windshield as she gripped the steering wheel until her knuckles blanched. James tapped on the glass of her driver’s side window.
“Are you mad?”
Cami closed her eyes for a brief second before rolling the window down a couple of inches with a fake smile. “Why would I be mad?”
“Do you want to change the contract?” James’s body tensed with anticipation. This could work. He’d have the right to touch her for the entire month, satisfy his craving for her, and then, finally, his strange fascination with her would be gone.
Cami gave him a withering look. “I don’t have sex based on contracts.”
James stood with his hands on hips watching as she drove away, replaying her words in his head. He winced. She didn’t think he meant… Fuck.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Cami blinked groggily as she patted the blankets around her for her phone. It dinged again with a text notification.
Madison: Looks like he’s making you guys social media official.
Cami blinked, trying to clear her fuzzy vision.
Is she talking about James?
Cami: He doesn’t use his social media
When Cami posted the selfies she’d taken, she realized that other than a headshot taken from his firm’s webpage, James hadn’t uploaded any photos. It was a wonder no one thought it was a fake account!
